Israel steps up enmity towards EU

'... Israel has said it will not meet a delegation of European foreign ministers, including William Hague, this week as diplomatic pressure mounts on its government to extend a 10-month settlement freeze that ends next week.

The Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, yesterday told Tony Blair, the Middle East envoy, that current restrictions on building West Bank Jewish settlements will not remain, but there would be some limits on construction. "We will not freeze the lives of the residents," he said. ...'

From http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...n-ministers-for-settlement-talks-2077572.html

It is clear from these latest developments that: -

1/ Israel remains an enemy of the EU.
2/ The apartheid government of Israel has absolutely no interest in peace and is determined to carry on stealing Palestinian land and deliberately abuse the human rights of the people they are supposed to talking peace to. This shows that the 'peace' talks, as everyone knew, are and always have been a total sham by Israel. No country on earth would put up with such behaviour when in 'peace' talks.
3/ Israel continues to demonstrate that it has nothing but absolute contempt for international law and therefore at its core it is a lawless state, hypocritically demanding that others obey laws it won't.

In the light of this contempt for the EU, the law and Palestinian human rights, the EU should now implement sanctions against the perpetrators of these barbaric acts. Every Israeli government minister and their families should be barred from entry to the EU forthwith. Any money they have in EU banks should be frozen and none of their children should be allowed to attend any college or university in the EU.

The EU should show that it is no longer prepared to sit around while the pogrom against the Palestinians goes ahead under the aegis of the USA and while yet more sham 'peace' talks are foisted on the world by the country supplying the money that props up the disgusting apartheid regime.

It is time to pull the international net tighter around the criminals in Tel Aviv.

This is fun! :D

Post reported for breaking forum rules.

What do you have to say about Israel's failure to obey international law and its clear intention to carry on stealing land while it is supposedly engaged in 'peace' talks with the people whose human rights it is abusing?

Isn't the EU entitled to impose sanctions against an enemy state? Perhaps you hadn't heard that Israel abused the passports of EU states in order to assassinate someone.

How very one sided of you EJ. Bother to read the next four paragraphs?

"Israel has bridled at what it calls an "insensitive" European demand to hold meetings on the eve of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. The ministers from Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Germany had apparently proposed to hold meetings on Friday morning, hours before the start of the Yom Kippur fast.

"They showed very high insensitivity to this special date. It's just not done," said Yigal Palmor, a foreign ministry spokesman. "Everyone is away, no meetings are planned, all agendas are empty. We suggested alternative dates, which were refused."

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported the meetings had been cancelled because the European ministers intended to pressure Israel over the settlements. A British embassy spokeswoman said Mr Hague's trip was postponed because of scheduling difficulties.

The spat comes amid Israel's growing irritation that EU countries, excluded from the US-sponsored bilateral peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, are bidding for an eleventh-hour seat at the negotiating table.

No need to bother responding. I won't read it.

can you define "Enemy"?

Israel attacked a number of EU states by deliberately abusing their sovereign passport systems in order to murder someone. In the past they carried out an assassination on EU soil.

Their behaviour has endangered the citizens of those EU countries. That is the act of an enemy.

Israel is also a renegade state that flouts international law continuously. It restricts the entry of goods supplied by the EU to the Palestinians in the Gaza concentration camp. That makes it an enemy of the EU humanitarian activities.

Israel attacked boats on the high seas with EU citizens on board. That makes it an enemy of the EU.

In many ways and over many years Israel has shown itself to be a pariah state and an enemy of the EU.

Why should the EU not enact sanctions against an enemy state?

I did actually read the entire article and nothing in it takes way from my point.

I guess every supporter of the apartheid state can hide their head in the sand and hope the EU will not take action against the perpetrators of the human rights abuses Israel is continually carrying out against the Palestinians.

with the same "logic" did Ghadaffi consider the arrest of his son an act of an enemy.

Push for a change of the laws, so the Israelis cannot LEGALLY approach a boat attempting to break a blockade.

Which rule prohibits humor?

The rule that prohibits deliberately trying to derail threads.

I notice that you have posted twice but have yet to say anything about the topic of the thread. Do you really have noting to contribute about Israel's enmity towards the EU and human rights and international law?

Why should the EU not implement sanctions against a state that abuses their sovereignty and endangered so many of their citizens? Especially an apartheid and pariah state like Israel.

The blockade of Gaza is illegal and is designed to collectively punish the entire population of Gaza. That is a crime against humanity.

The Israelis illegally attacked a vessel in international waters and massacred a number of people thereon. The vessels also carried EU citizens and the actions of the IDF endangered the lives of many EU citizens.

Israel has in many occasions demonstrated a contempt for the citizens of the EU, their governments, their humanitarian aid to Gaza and their values.

The EU is entitled to enact sanctions against enemy states and should do so forthwith.

Good on Israel for rebuffing Europe's attempts at resurrecting colonialism. The Olde World has no business telling other countries how to run things in their own territory.

Do you see how silly hyperbole is?

You're getting off to a bad start here guys. Keep the posts civil and on-topic.

This might have some merit if it were in any way accurate.

The EU has every right to ask to speak to any state about its human rights record, especially when it shows such contempt for international law.

The EU has every right to refuse to enact sanctions against apartheid states - as it did South Africa.

The EU has every right to demand that the apartheid state of Israel respect human rights, as it does with many states around the world.

The EU has every rights to enact sanctions against people who are perpetrating crimes against humanity as Israel is against the Palestinians.

The EU has every right to enact sanctions against enemies of the EU - as Israel has demonstrated repeatedly that it is.

Why should the EU treat Israel as a friendly state when it has shown such utter contempt for the safety of EU citizens and contempt for their governments?

I guess the Foreign Secretary supports evil apartheid Israel.

Do you understand the importance of Yom Kippur to Jews, EJ?

Funny, I think the same thing whenever I read your take on an article.

Yes, and every nation has the right to tell the old colonials powers to shove it. Not that Israel is actually doing that in this case.

The EU has every right to refuse to enact sanctions against apartheid states - as it did South Africa.

The EU has every right to demand that the apartheid state of Israel respect human rights, as it does with many states around the world.

Do I have to quote The Princess Bride?

The EU has every rights to enact sanctions against people who are perpetrating crimes against humanity as Israel is against the Palestinians.

Sure they do. They have every right to do business with whomever they choose. But they like doing business with Israel.

The EU has every right to enact sanctions against enemies of the EU - as Israel has demonstrated repeatedly that it is.

Why should the EU treat Israel as a friendly state when it has shown such utter contempt for the safety of EU citizens and contempt for their governments?

See, if we use your "logic", the US and several EU countries should be at war with Japan over the events depicted in Whale Wars.

Your definition of enemy is simply not the one the civilized world uses.

I always find it difficult to say anything of value on these threads, given the subject matter so heavily treads on Poe's law. But per the OP; I respectfully disagree.

Same old wailing. Same old loaded buzzwords. Same old whinging that Israel is able and willing to defend itself.

What, no pogrom this time?

The EU should show that it is no longer prepared to sit around while the pogrom against the Palestinians goes ahead under the aegis of the USA and while yet more sham 'peace' talks are foisted on the world by the country supplying the money that props up the disgusting apartheid regime.

It is time to pull the international net tighter around the criminals in Tel Aviv.

The EU continues to sit around.
