The law that prohibits them from meddling in politics in exchange for getting away with not paying taxes like every other person and organization and corporation and property owners.
And how many churches are breaking that law? Don't you think that punishing all churches for the offenses of a few would play into the hands of those claiming that churches are being suppressed? And won't stripping them of their tax-exempt status simply free them to openly endorse candidates? The next candidate to come along and give lip service to the right issues can end up as the
Official Presidential Candidate of the Southern Baptists®.
False dichotomy.... and ignoring that schools teach more than one thing in their classes.
No, it isn't. And I mean it
demonstrably isn't. It's like you have this checklist of words you want to shoehorn into your text, but you don't really understand what they mean, or in what context they're relevant. It's what an aircraft mechanic friend of mine used to refer to as "hammer to fit and paint to match". Literally nowhere in what I wrote did I indicate that I thought that my suggestion and your suggestion were the only two choices available. And I literally wrote that I thought critical thinking should be a
part of the curriculum. That's the exact opposite of ignoring the fact that schools teach a variety of subjects.
Not if the course is free and paid for by the taxes collected form the grifter cults of the Zombified ill begotten human sacrificed Jesus.... whose money comes from fleecing dupes who could instead have used that money to pay for their education instead of mind pickling on the bile of the cult of the ill begotten Zombified human sacrificed Jesus.
This is where you and Gaetan have so much in common. With him, it's his pet cure-all solutions of "get rid of all weapons" and "get rid of all money". But he never actually offers the slightest idea as to how that would be accomplished. So why don't you actually offer us a plan for how you see this coming to be? Without changing anything else about U.S. culture, how would you go about getting the legislative branches to draft and successfully pass new laws stripping religious institutions of their tax exemptions and using the taxes collected to fund
free voter education classes? And what,
exactly, would these classes teach?
Yes... it worked for the ill begotten Zombified human sacrificed Jesus... didn't it... and they are still hawking all the time on street corners but also in buildings and properties paid for by fleecing billions of duped rubes and for which they do not pay any taxes.
And how's it working out for you? Do you think maybe after five hundred to a thousand years your ever expanding discipleship will succeed in instilling the masses with critical thinking skills adequate to significantly diminish the influence of magical thinking? Will the original messages be as malleable as those of every other religion over time?
The role of shouting on street corners in the success of religion is debatable, but you're talking about institutions that have succeeded by appealing to superstition and ignorance. How do you expect to increase free thought and logic through such tactics?
Yes... easily solved by having free education paid for by taxing the grifter cults of the zombified ill begotten human sacrificed Jesus.... whose money comes from fleecing dupes who could have paid the money towards their education instead for the mind-pickling hawking for Jesus on street corners and in untaxed expensive buildings.
Easily solved - just like war and poverty could be easily solved if we'd only listen to the wisdom of Gaetan. It's really,
really easy to sit on a high horse and solve the world's problems with a few words.
If I had the hoaxing ability to fleece billions of dupes like the cults of the ill begotten Zombified human sacrificed Jesus... why not... they are doing it all the time...
and illegally.
But you don't have the ability to fleece
anyone. You can't even convince a group of rationally minded skeptics that your ideas have any merit. And I thought you were trying to make a better world, not start an new religion of your own.
What part don't you understand about free education paid for by taxing the cults...
The part where you explain how you would actually go about doing that. I mean, are you going to go to your local Fox affiliate and demand to address the unwashed masses, then say into the camera, "Listen up, simpletons! From now on your churches are going to be taxed so that we can teach people not to vote like you morons!"? How could you possibly fail?
The same laws that tax everybody and everyone and every organization.
But, as I mentioned, they
don't. Huge corporations and immensely rich individuals pay a ridiculously small percentage of their income in taxes. A number of corporations pay essentially
nothing in taxes. It would be a hell of a lot easier to convince people that the rich should actually pay taxes again, like they did in the past, than it would be to convince people to tax churches specifically to undermine the beliefs of their attendees. It would be more effective to use that tax revenue to make everything better, including funding public schools and universities so that we can produce well educated citizens who are less easily manipulated, rather than simply trying to openly stick it to churchgoers.
Why not... the cults of the ill begotten Zombified human sacrificed Jesus are extremely stupid and they have declared religious crusades against women and modernity and progress and freedom in the US and around the globe after having been stopped for a few decades from doing it like they did in the preceding millennia.
The highlighted phrase doesn't get any more clever the more you repeat it, and you are effectively admitting that you're no different from religious fundamentalists.
No it isn't,
again. You clearly either don't know what a dichotomy is, or you lack the reading compression to know when one has been applied.
Why is it that you think schools can only teach one thing or another but not both and much more to boot???
Colleges and schools teach multiple subjects and people learn many things at the same time.
Maybe it's the word "curriculum" that you fail to understand. You see, when I say that I would like to see critical thinking skills taught as part of the science
curriculum, I'm saying that I would like to see it taught as a part of the set of courses and subjects taught under the heading of the sciences. Saying that in no way implies that there are no other subjects taught either within or without science education.
There's no point addressing the remaining responses, as they're just more of the same.
I am permitted, within the rules, to say that your arguments are vacuous garbage. They appear to be nothing more than excuses to repeat what you clearly imagine are tremendously clever insults, like "zombified ill begotten human sacrificed Jesus", ad nauseam, embellished by means of a thesaurus with words that you often use out of correct context and "unique" punctuation applied in the belief that they make your arguments sound more intellectually compelling. They contain nothing more in the way of actual, implementable solutions than "build the wall" or "just say no".
