True, I don't have a full and detailed knowledge of the USA. I'm not American, and I never read US history at university. But through the good stead of folks here who have, I believe over the last 10 years I have been far better informed than your average two-tooth, one-cell, can't-spell MAGA amoeba.

I take zero pleasure whatsoever in the USA splitting up, if it does. In fact, negative pleasure. Although "splitting up" is not exactly what I said. Let me quote me:

The US Civil War started when some states actually seceded from the Union (for reasons that we won't go into here).

Now, California has been actively defying federal laws for some time, being a "sanctuary state". In the other direction, Abbott's Texas is also "doing its own thing" with immigrants in clear defiance of federal laws, even at the expense of other states (it's just state-level provocation, really). Think there is a civil war happening today? I don't.

I just think that these levels of defiance by states will continue and deepen significantly. To the effect that there will be two very distinct zones in the USA that operate entirely differently and at often odds with each other, so effectively becoming like two countries.

I would not write off the purple states so easily. They could switch back.
And you don;t have a full knowledge of the USA. And it shows.......

What do you think he's getting wrong? Do you think we're getting more or less polarized (or static) over the last 40 years? Here's the thing - Trump is a demonstrably awful human being and terrible businessman. This election should not have been close. Among other things, this suggests to me we're getting more polarized.

The vast majority of MAGA, more than 50% of the USA, have almost zero knowledge of the USA or anything else for that matter. And Trump and his krue are total fascist pricks. And that shows too.

If you would like to prove me wrong, by all means do so.

I think it will go the other way. I don't think all Trump's cabinet picks will get approval because it seems clear he is just trolling America now. He will bluster and fart, Musk will go "Yeah, baby! Let that sink in!", the talkback will have a conniption fit as usual, and the rest of you will sink even further into his rancid swamp.
 
Some of those who are ringing the "alarum" of civil will be clutching pearls when those with the "wrong" skin tone decide to take the lead. Civil war is valid only if enough white dudes feel it is justified.
