I'm sure that PDoherty76 is reading this. I think that if he wants to rejoin the forum he needs to send an email to Darat explaining why he behaved in the way he did and how he has changed. It would then be up to Darat to make a decision based on what he says. I don't think that its up to us to speak on his behalf.

If Darat thinks he's sincere then I think he should be allowed to join.

For what it's worth, I was thinking about starting a thread suggesting his re-admittance before he had this epiphany (all the sock stuff was getting tedious), but I couldn't think of good way to bring it about.

It comes down to if he has changed his behaviour - not if he has changed his views. The comments that are quoted at the beginning of this thread suggest that he has calmed down. But, like I said, he has to speak for himself and approach Darat.

If he really was Wizard -and a sock puppet, he has not changed and there is no reason to unban - other than getting back a great target! Too easy.
 
hmmm I don't know. if he didn't change his opinion would you review his suspension? If you review suspensions based solely on belief and not behavior it becomes a slippery slope. The CTers would call jref prejudiced. which is what we call CT forums. As much as I would like to see him post here what had changed his mind. Maybe it's time to review policy itself. Instead of outright suspensions maybe extended banning subject to periodic correspondence and review.

support his criminal activities to build another puppet.

IMO, it's all about attitude. I don't care if a person's world view is diametrically opposed to mine, if he can debate his truth in a polite and civil manner I would welcome him here.
 
1. I think if his original banning was for behaviour that warranted banning, than unfortunately he must remain banned. You must maintain fairness. Can you imagine how S4S and Lyte would play such a thing everywhere else if we let PD back simply because he came back from the darkness. If we unban PD for converting, then you have to unban every single person who changed their opinion on an issue here, despite the reason they were actually banned.

2. I admire his willingness not only to see the err in his ways (on numerous occasions now in fact), but to come clean to the very people he was fighting against. I can't say I am completely surprised, as his age and intellect level were factors that I found worked against him being such a die hard CTer. He also seemed to argue, when he argued instead of insulted, with a certain amount of "clarity"...

3. There are plenty of other forums/ways for him to express his new views. If he is LIHOP, then let him come to SLC and CS blogs and express/debate this. Let him go to LC Forum and argue with Killtown over it.

All in all, despite it in my nature to give everyone a second chance, in this case the banning must stand. That said, while I do not agree with a ban reversal, I would agree to a probationary period to see if his behavior (I assume the reason for his banning) has changed.

you know the pnac website caused the implosion of wtc7 which in turn lead to the collapse of wtc1&2 and the pentagon, well don't get me started on the pentagon...that hole is three times too big to be four times too small for a cruisie missile so it must have been i mean it's obvious right? and silverstein had a lease on the pentagon which made the implosion much more of an explosion when the plane which didn't hit it had it it hit if it had hit but it didn't hit...... and so forth

Not that it matters all that much because this is basically a moderator's decision, but as long as we're all expressing an opinion on this, this is pretty much how I come down on it, too.
 
He got banned for behavior didn't he? Doesn't that mean that even if opinions change he can't get unbanned?

Still, nice to see a change. But I wouldn't put all my trust in him right away.

I guess we all have the same thought about trusting him.
That´s why some brought up the idea for a limited time
of probation.
