Gov. Jindal's response to Obama - FAIL

Wow. Of course we all knew that the Democrats were going to roast Gov. Jindal's response to President Obama's speech Tuesday night, no matter what he said or did. But when the Republicans come out with just as scathing criticism against Jindal, it sure doesn't look good for the "golden boy" of the GOP - ouch.

Republicans, Democrats criticize Jindal's speech
Insane. Childish. Disaster. And those were some of the kinder comments from political pundits about Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and his response to President Barack Obama's speech to Congress on Tuesday night. Jindal, 37, a Rhodes scholar and son of Indian immigrants, is considered a rising star in Republican ranks and a likely 2012 presidential candidate.

GOP leaders, looking for a fresh face for the party's image, tapped Jindal earlier this month for the high-profile task of rebutting Obama's first address to a joint session of Congress.

But in both style and substance, Jindal's speech has drawn flak from Republicans and Democrats alike. ...

If that's the best the GOP has to offer, they're screwed; at least, they're screwed for the next few years. Of course, a lot can happen in the next four years, so we shall see.

I love how he screwed the pooch with that volcano monitoring bit...

It boggles my mind that nobody thought to tell him, "Dude, Bobby, you know that ****'s important, right? Those volcano things have a tendency to occasionally explode. Now think really, really hard about what 'volcano monitoring' might mean, and whether it's a good idea to use that as an example of a poor use of funds."

Well, Gov. Jindal is a Young-Earth Creationist, so I guess that it only makes sense that he completely ignore anything having to do with geology

See, that's what makes the volcano monitoring so st00pid, you can't monitor the wrath of Jeebus!

How totally lame...not just Gov. Jindal...but the fact the Republicans chose this guy. Those of us living near volcanoes, appreciate the volcano monitors.

I already posted this in another thread, so forgive me, but I have to say it again:

"Something called" volcano monitoring? This is like scare quotes: I don't know what this term means, so I'll say "something called" volcano monitoring. Does he not know about Mt. St. Helens? Is he proud of his ignorance? Does he think we need "something called" "hurricane monitoring" I wonder?

There's something called "get a clue" dude.

Name any politician, from either party, that ever gave a decent response to a sitting president's State of the Union address.

Creationism kook Jindal was horrible in the non-state-of-union state-of-the-union rebuttal. Hopefully that miserable performance will keep him well away from national leadership.

Jindal did not give a simply non-decent response. Jindal gave a (*&# stupid response. There is a difference.

What - no volcanos in Texas, so you don't care?

Perfect illustration of the old simplified assessment of the difference between Dems and Reps:

Dem - we see this problem and need to address it, and that will cost money.
Rep - I got mine, screw you guys.
Yup

Tex, there's not giving a decent response, and then there's performing a faceplant on live national TV. It seems to me that Jindal not only did a faceplant, but then he whipped out a shovel and started digging.

Gee, what happened to the United States of America?

I wonder how much federal funding goes into something called "hurricane monitoring".

Yes, we could save tons of money if we would just quit funding silly things such as Hurricane Monitoring, or Tornado Watch, or any weather watch for that matter. Then there's that wasteful Earthquake Monitoring, hey, science doesn't work anyway, and if God wants to destroy, let him destroy. Okay, now let's get back to work in winning the White House in 2012!

Actually, it is more like

Dem: Lets throw a whole bunch of money at the problem (and if you are a Johnson Democrat, when that doesn't work, you carpet bomb it to hell)

Rep: Lets assume the locals can handle it on their own and not give a damn
