Gov. Jindal's response to Obama - FAIL

What I think is funny is that the Democrats "introduced" Obama to the national stage at the DNC in 04, and everyone came away thinking, "Wow, this is an up and coming leader of the party! Watch out for him!"

The Republicans give Jindal a chance, and people ask, "Wow, this is an up and coming leader party?"

:D

Actually, I did not really hear Jindal say what he would do differently. He goes on at some length about tax cuts, but it seems to me that Obama is all about cutting taxes on those making less than $100K. Small businesses? Does Jindal mean McD franchises or mom-and-pop hamburger stands?

The only idea of any merit that Jindal puts forth is a tax credit for construction of physical plant, and I get the idea that Obama's infrastructural ideas , such as American-made wind turbines would do just that.

Mr Jindal, are you in the room?

I heard some republicans claiming yesterday that, although Jindal botched it pretty bad, they were at least pleased that he showed that the republicans had a plan for health care and education.

Now, maybe I missed it, but, really? The republicans have a plan for healthcare? Let me guess: tax cuts!!!!

Education? I think I heard him say something about how education is important, but, then again, so did Obama. Shoot, Obama even laid out a goal for education. What are the republicans going to do? I must have missed that "plan," too.

Yes, we could save tons of money if we would just quit funding silly things such as Hurricane Monitoring, or Tornado Watch, or any weather watch for that matter. Then there's that wasteful Earthquake Monitoring, hey, science doesn't work anyway, and if God wants to destroy, let him destroy. Okay, now let's get back to work in winning the White House in 2012!

I thought those tornadoes mainly hit red states, destroying trailer parks full of GOP voters? [/evil]

I wonder how much federal funding goes into something called "hurricane monitoring".

It was intresting that he held up the (Republican) government's response to Katrina as example on how we can't trust government. So we should just give up on government all the way.

If that's the best the GOP has to offer, they're screwed; at least, they're screwed for the next few years. Of course, a lot can happen in the next four years, so we shall see.

Who knows? Maybe they´ll treat you to a Palin/Jindal ticket in 2012?:D

I already posted this in another thread, so forgive me, but I have to say it again:

"Something called" volcano monitoring? This is like scare quotes: I don't know what this term means, so I'll say "something called" volcano monitoring. Does he not know about Mt. St. Helens? Is he proud of his ignorance? Does he think we need "something called" "hurricane monitoring" I wonder?

There's something called "get a clue" dude.

That sounds so similar to some old guy referring to a planetarium machine as "an overhead projector"!

By the way, I'm sure people living near these active volcanos are more concerned about being harmed by international terrorists than the volcano!

(And that's not even getting into the value of learning more about volcanos aside from their threat.)

Given the normal length of poltical memory I doubt it.

You have a point, but this was billed by the GOP as being the coming out of it's Next Big Thing, and it was a disaster. Jindal is not out of it, but he is longer the Great Hope of the GOP for 2012.

I hope Jindal has got more then just saying big government is bad and showing his ignorance of the danger of volcanic eruptions in Hawaii, Washington, and Alaska.

Name any politician, from either party, that ever gave a decent response to a sitting president's State of the Union address.

Jim Webb in 2007.

The governor of a state that depends on national weather service coastal storm warnings shouldn't begrudge similar services to volcanic areas.
