It is possible to beat this virus, it just takes the willingness to do it from both the Government and the people. Everywhere would be virus-free in two months if they were willing to do what it takes to win.
The Dunning Kruger effect is strong in this one.
And New York is the most backward state in the USA.
How so?
It has the highest GPD per capita of the 50 states.
It's well above average for high school graduation rates, student aptitude, quality of life, healthcare outcomes.
I suspect you just mean, they collect a lot in taxes.
I would alternately say that the most backward states are the ones with the lowest graduation rates, the lowest standard of living, the lowest median incomes, the highest ratio of federal spending to federal taxes paid. You know who they are.
Explain why you think that is so?
Because New Zealand doesn't have average white folks from northern Europe as a major proportion of their inhabitants. New Zealanders are all little flightless birds with long beaks.Non-experts making incredibly strong claims that are contradicted by actual experts is the kind of behaviour that ranks very high on the Dunning-Kruger scale.
Perhaps the most obvious issue is that they assume that what happens on some irrelevant and isolated Island in the Pacific Ocean is relevant to the rest of the world. No expert would make that kind dumbass assumption.

Please try not to be so condescending. NZ has a predominantly white northern European population. They are a very good analogue for Scandinavia.
New Zealand cares about that. And NZ has about 50% of the population of Sweden. So it's not that insignificant by comparison.Except for the "irrelevant and isolated Island" part of course, but who the hell cares about that?

Yeah but they should realize that their geographic isolation means that they are highly exceptional in terms of their ability to reduce the introduction of infectious diseases.
It's not about population. It's about geography. To demonstrate this lets not forget that there's a Nordic country that is similar to Sweden but has come out of this pandemic very lightly: It's called Iceland and guess what? It's an irrelevant island in the middle of nowhere too.
The distance from Stockholm to Rome is shorter than the distance Auckland is from Sydney. Oh people people actually live in between.
It doesn't matter. Get those people into isolation inside their homes, and the virus has no ability to spread beyond those isolated groups. Keep the groups isolated long enough for the life cycle of the virus to be surpassed and those groups that are healthy can be allowed to resume limited time outside of isolation. As the groups that still contain the virus have it burn out inside of their isolated members, then they too can return to the rest of society. As long as it is made sure that no infected people enter the uninfected society group, the virus will be gone within a few life cycles. This is what we did here. It works, it works incredibly well, it just takes a coordinated effort with everyone willing to play their part in it. That's where the US and Europe are failing, in getting everyone on board to do something about it and making the sacrifice to do it.
Ireland too.The UK is about to do a 4-week lockdown. Let's see who is right.
Ireland will plunge into the world’s toughest national lockdown on Wednesday in a desperate bid to salvage Christmas. The rest of Europe could be forced to follow...
Level five, by contrast, is essentially a total lockdown with restaurants (and our famous pubs) only open for takeaway; non-essential shops closed; hairdressers and salons closed; all social visits banned; weddings and funerals limited to 25 guests and individuals prohibited from traveling farther than 3 miles from their homes...
The only chink of light is that schools are staying open, for now...
While Martin tried to hold on to the promise of Christmas, he also admitted in his address that the country was effectively set for a cycle of yo-yo lockdowns.
He rejected goals of zero COVID, and herd immunity, instead saying, “We work to suppress the virus when it is growing, and we work to reopen as much of our society and economy as possible when it is safe to do so. Until we have a safe vaccine, we must continue in that pattern.”
Haha indeed. As the Fox lawyers have successfully argued in Court:
you would have to be an idiot to take any of the Fox Hosts seriously.
No. Plenty of places are island countries. For example, Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia. And yet their outcome has been significantly different to NZ and to each other.Yeah but they should realize that their geographic isolation means that they are highly exceptional in terms of their ability to reduce the introduction of infectious diseases.
I guess 260 million people in Indonesia hardly cut it either. But do go on!It's not about population. It's about geography. To demonstrate this lets not forget that there's a Nordic country that is similar to Sweden but has come out of this pandemic very lightly: It's called Iceland and guess what? Again, irrelevant. For NZ, the main port of entry for any diseases will be by air, then arrivals by ship. Ditto for Australia, and all the above-mentioned countries. For island countries, air-travel is a bonus, and a curse. The air routes between Australia and NZ have been some of the busiest in the world until earlier this year. Essentially domestic routes. Which is why NZ imposed the strictest lockdowns on airport arrivals...still does, actually. The distance from Stockholm to Rome is shorter than the distance Auckland is from Sydney. Oh people people actually live in between.
Except that we have had it introduced here multiple times already, including once where there were virtually no regions of the country without cases. We got it under control, not because we are isolated from the rest of the world, but because we were willing to isolate ourselves from each other.
How about you get an education instead of thinking you are entitled to educated the rest of the world of how we should just do whatever you say, just because New Zealand happened to have a far lower initial case load that most of Europe? You are literally acting like the worst kind of self-righteous arm-chair expert.
Again, irrelevant.
