Final Debate Thread

Obama, hands down.

Truthfully, I hoped for better from McCain. But he wasn't any better than the other debates, and in fact, I think significantly worse than the "town hall" debate.

The "William Ayers" part was embarrassing. Most people don't even know who the heck the guy is, let alone care whether Obama associated with him or not. And Obama refuted just about every point McCain made in the debate, and McCain had almost no rebuttal to them. And they were the same refutations that Obama made in the other two debates. if McCain still has no answer for them after this many weeks... yikes.

McCain made a lot of points about Obama's plans. Hopefully people will not take his word as many of his points were complete lies.

The fact that McCain threw both Ayers and ACORN out so early in the debate, and at the same time, was a definite sign of weakness.

And it was a stupid move, even for a "hail mary." He had to have known that Obama was prepared to answer both of those points--which were weak attacks to begin with.

McCain got smocked in the debate. Where he lost it was looking like a little bitch crying about his hurt feelings and Obama went Macho Man Randy Savage off the top rope and with the you have hurt feelings the American people are hurting.

Most memorable line goes to Obama:
"Joe, if you're watching, here's a number. Zero. That's your fee."

Obama snatches McCain's Joe the Plumber crutch and beats him over the head with it. For the win.

Anyone else spit out your Coke Zero when McCain proclaimed, "I'm a Federalist!"?

Actually, I liked this debate better than the first two. More interactive, better questions

Well, that was...Nauseating.

I agree with both of you. :D Definitely a more animated debate than the other two, even if no more substantive.

And I also feel nauseated. However, had I been undecided, that feeling of nausea would make my decision instantly.

After all, isn't the point of a debate to help us decide? This one delivered. Three thumbs up!

McCain did better than predicted. Well, better than he predicted anyway. He was better than half as good as Palin.

On a personal note, McCains body language - his stupid grin and the rolling of the eyes, - Is that just his temper coming through?

How fast does fact check come out?
I agree with Chipmunk That line "Zero" was the best. Of course it could turn into a
Bush Sr "Read my Lips" moment too.

Especially as he was in the middle of explaining his POV, which wasn't even a remotely Federalist perspective. If nothing else, that part of the debate was entertaining. :D

McCain was in full attack mode, damn the facts, full speed ahead on the lies - I suspect the poll numbers will be favorable for McCain.

McCain just attacked Obama for talking about the "health of the mother" (re: abortion).

He claims that the "health of the mother" could mean "just about anything."

I'm...speechless.

This is actually a standard antiabortion argument. If you leave a loophole for "health of the mother" then there will be claims that being forced to carry the pregnancy to term will damage the mother's mental health, thus allowing abortion on demand.

Did I misunderstand because I wasn't really paying attention, or did McCain really on two occasions say that the answer isn't more government spending then immediately follow that by saying that we need more government support for autistic kids?
