Final Debate Thread

McCain was decent until he became the biggest lil girl in the history of human kind. Damn, did he look weak.

BTW. Why is that that McCain always speaks in a whiny "being in defense mode" tone?

I can't believe McCain tried to make an issue out of Colombia...Obama basically nailed it when he pointed out that "free trade" for Colombia is essentially giving money for human rights abuses.

And now McCain just misrepresented what John Lewis said. Completely.

Any respect I ever had for John McCain flew out the window.

You have got to be kidding.

McCain said something like "you have to read what he said!" and I wish he was able to read it out, verbatim, because it's 100% clear exactly what Lewis was trying to say. To suggest otherwise may be the worst intellectual dishonesty I have seen in this forum ever!.

By raising questions about Barack Obama's relationship with terror-bomber William Ayers, the Republicans are "sowing the seeds of hatred and division," Mr. Lewis said. "During another period, in the not-too-distant past, there was a governor of a state of Alabama named George Wallace who also became a presidential candidate. George Wallace never threw a bomb. He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their Constitutional rights. Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama."

You have to be kidding Cleon. You really just have to be kidding. This was completely out of line and incindery and absolutely was drawing a parallel between what is going on at McCain rallies with those despicable actions of the past. There was no other reason to say what he said other than to draw that parallel and to infuse a racial component to scare people! Or is it your position that he's just losing his mind or something? Why else would he even say anything even remotely like that? WHY?

Shame on you.

Oh, are you outraged again?

Well, you've managed to ignore both what McCain said during the debate, and what Lewis said. Congratulations.

I've noted your outrage. Again.

When asked what he thinks about people hollering violent and angry things at his and Palin's rallies, McCain essentially said he's proud of everyone that attends the rallies.

Yep.

Makes me want to vote for him.

Attempting to be objective for a second, this is the first debate where McCain is convincing me that he really wants it. His hackles are up and he's looking to pounce on every subject.

Back to my own personal viewpoint, he's whining to an absurd degree. The whole thread where they talked about negativity in the campaign, and just when McCain was done attacking Obama for being negative and apologizing for his own, brings up Ayers for the five-billionth time. Yikes.

Then the lightning-quick gear shift, trying to contrast refusing to offer a Columbian free trade deal to offering to sit down with Iran. Embarrassing. Stupid. Alarmist. McCain is actually making me mad with this kind of crap.

Back to objectivity... Gore's sighing didn't play well, Bush's looking at his watch didn't work well, McCain's snorting is pretty awkward, but Obama's big ol' smile in response to rambling attacks from his opponent, that works. Works for me, anyway. Nice touch.

Hitler was SO proud of these folks;

How much would you pay to see one or the other candidate do a Chevy Chase "silent mouthing while your opponent drones on" impression?

Obama owned McCain on the health care segment. Obama makes it clear that his health care plan exempts small businesses' like the one "Joe" (snort) wants to buy from his requirements, then McCain goes on to repeat the assertion. Obama was crystal clear on this point, so I think it's willful ignorance on McCain's part.

McCain is beginning to look as if he's going into meltdown mode. I wonder when he'll begin poundingon the table.
