Face, meet leopard. Leopard, meet face.

To be fair Merz is an extremist right winger, albeit of the Bismarckan strain. And Carney has pretty much bent the knee to the Canadian far right since being elected.
Nonsense. While Carney has been considerably more centre-right than his predecessor on economic and military issues, he has in no way "bent the knee" to the far right.

Why do you consistently feel the need to opine on subjects you clearly know nothing about?

The really weird thing for me is that they voted for a rapist - as the judge said he was - I really don't know how people got past that to vote for him. Now perhaps if both candidates were rapists I would have had to hold my nose and vote for one of them but since that wasn't the case that one fact should have excluded him from anyone's consideration.
You do know that's not the only option, don't you?
In actuality, there was Trump and the candidate supported by the Cheneys. You know, this one.
Things went wrong a looong time before the election.
'But what could we do? It was a choice between Trump and Harris?'
Almost nobody is seriously considering what they could have done before it became a choice between those two ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊. Or what they can do now to be presented with similar alternatives the next time, and the next time, and ...
And even when that's the choice, you could still consider what to do about it. To accept the choice is not the only option.

And they decided to back Trump? You think that argument even holds?

It was the only option. A rapist and a non rapist.

Have you seen his immigration policy? It's a wet dream for fascists.

When will "moderate" conservatives learn that sucking up to the far right and gaslighting those to the left of them never works (unless, as is all too often the case, the true goal is to usher in the far right)?

Which itself is not that brilliant a plan, because a lot of them tend to rich enough to be targets whilst being poor enough and without sufficient power to resist the kleptocratic nature of the very rich in an autocratic regime, where the law is in the service of the powerful.

Fat geese ready for the plucking.

Understanding is not the same as excusing. It would be beneficial to understand what makes these people tick so this sort of thing can be prevented in future. If there is a future.
Conspiracy theories have been mainstreamed and president Trump himself is a big part of that. He was the most prominent Birther for a while. Fox News is only shallow end of this pool.
Conspiracy theories went from being something that any sensible politician with career ambitions would avoid to being something that actually gets people into office nowadays (Trump himself and Marjorie Taylor Green are examples of this; even RFK Jr., although partly by hitching his wagon to Trump's). Conspiracy theories are one of the main driving forces in today's politics, so I agree that it is a good idea to at least understand how CT-prone people think about about the world.

Yes I am fully aware of his immigration policy proposals and its clear you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Nothing he has done comes even close to what the far right (or even the moderate right) wants for this country. Nothing.

Just because someone isn't as far left as Mao, doesn't make them Mussolini. There's a pretty big gulf in between you seem to be missing.
