Dictionary.com says "European Community" is synonymous with "European". The European Community is a nation according to the same source. Thus, all the definitions in my last post apply, and Darat is, with all due respect, wrong.

But your claim was that 'Europe' is a nation, we all know that the European Union is one (well, sort of).

By your dictionarian logics 'American' means something from the United States of America and thus 'America' is a nation:

You all seem to have it wrong about those people that live in the USA.

They are all called Mericans.

In conversations about nationalities:

"What are you?" "An Austrailian."
"What are you?" "An Austrian"
"What are you?" "A Merican."

I've been introduced dozens of times to Mericans. They all seem to be Mericans.

Yeah. The issue is over Europe. 'America' is the USA to most of the world - which is a country. I'm glad you finally discovered this.

No they don't EU doesn't qualify as a state or a nation, perhaps you should look up the word "state" and explain how the EU commision, parlament, council of ministers or all of them together is "The supreme public power" in the EU area.

Edited to add: I don't have any problem with people refering to EU citizens as Europeans or US citizens as Americans, but the whole "EU is a state" thing is simply propaganda from the opponents of the EU.

No, that one was my own - but it's still correct. The grey areas on the map are exactly what the definition is saying. Which, by the way, shows that Europe is not a country.
