Not the point.Not always.
Not the point.Not always.
What I said:What is your point then?
Natural biological reproduction is weird?Porn as alternative for sex sounds er... mainstream enough, but sex as alternative for porn? Not so much, to me at least. A bit weird, even.
That is not what I said. Using it as an alternative for porn isNatural biological reproduction is weird?
The point I made was not that real sex is an alternative to porn (though, of course, it is) - rather that if porn were banned then real sex would still be there for humanity. Nobody here is suggesting one goes out and finds another human being to have sex with as an immediate alternative to watching a porn video - and nobody here, AFAIK, is anti sex. That is not what I said. Using it as an alternative for porn is
Ignoring all the negative consequences set forth herein. To be clear, I consider this a reasonable line of thinking: "For lack of a consenting partner, sex is not available to me, so I'll grab some porn instead".
indeed, like slavery. Also, I think it can be safely assumed that if porn were banned, it would still be available, although illegal. People being what they are.
Yes. And drugs. And alcohol, back in the 1920's. I'm glad we agree.indeed, like slavery.
What a strange “point” to make. What I said:
A false analogy: take away automobiles and there would be no viable alternative; ban porn and regular sex is...well, right there still available as an alternative.
It is strange? How so?What a strange “point” to make.
Yes, we are agreeing to an obvious truth. In the case of slavery though, perhaps not many would argue that therefore it shouldn't be banned.Yes. And drugs. And alcohol, back in the 1920's. I'm glad we agree.
As to the highlighted, yes, the performers absolutely should be consenting adults. I support attempts to ensure that. As opposed to just imposing a ban.Yes, we are agreeing to an obvious truth. In the case of slavery though, perhaps not many would argue that therefore it shouldn't be banned.
Porn users have a vested interest in believing their performers are participating without some form of pressure.
And we know that when someone watches porn they are absolutely assured that there has been no pressure, duress, inducement or manipulation applied to the performers - either from individuals or society or the system as a whole? As to the highlighted, yes, the performers absolutely should be consenting adults. There need to be laws and law enforcement in place to ensure that. For that to work, it needs to be a legal activity, and not banned and therefore underground and shielded from scrutinyAnd we know that when someone watches porn they are absolutely assured that there has been no pressure, duress, inducement or manipulation applied to the performers - either from individuals or society or the system as a whole?
That wasn't the question. The porn user is assured of no pressure - yes or no?There need to be laws and law enforcement in place to ensure that. For that to work, it needs to be a legal activity, and not banned and therefore underground and shielded from scrutiny
How would I know? I haven't watched the stuff in decadesThat wasn't the question. The porn user is assured of no pressure - yes or no?
