Cool, now show us the original text the Esquire is pretending to reference.

No. They had to spout the acceptable diversity statement or not get considered. I'm sure you were aware of that. And repeating a politically correct catechism has nothing to do with merit. What's a DEI purity test? It sounds like from what you've posted that they were expected to understand and agree with the universities policies and processes to get a job there?
This really does show that DEI is just racist. Is there any example of diversity, equity, and inclusion used to include a White person or "gasp" a straight White male (who doesn't wear a dress)? Of course, not. DEI is not about diversity, equity, or inclusion. It's a way for racists bigots to hide their racist bigotry.
Neat. Just makes stuff up. I'm sure this Rashid guy was confident that his readers wouldn't bother trying to verify any of it.
Yes, we know what the good intention was.
Overall, the results indicate that there is little empirical evidence that diversity, as defined narrowly by demographic or identity diversity, improves scientific output and impact.
I don't know if hypocrite is the correct word, but the notion that DEI is about diversity and inclusion is just a lie. It's amazing how anti-DEI initiatives can be blatantly and openly white supremacist, and they call us racist.
What hypocrites.
You've eaten the rightist white supremacist conspiracy theory propaganda enthusiastically, haven't you?I don't know if hypocrite is the correct word, but the notion that DEI is about diversity and inclusion is just a lie.
I wonder how many DEI proponents sincerely believe that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace necessarily includes a white male heterosexual Christian viewpoint. You've eaten the rightist white supremacist conspiracy theory propaganda enthusiastically, haven't you?
there about 4.5 times more white/non-Hispanic people than black. so it's disproportionatePlus, even in the USA, at the moment there are literally THREE TIMES more whites living in poverty than blacks. WTH generational wealth do their kids benefit from, when their parents are subsiding on food stamps? Why punish THEM?
You are saying the same thing as I did - they have to agree to follow the university policies etc.No. They had to spout the acceptable diversity statement or not get considered. I'm sure you were aware of that. And repeating a politically correct catechism has nothing to do with merit.
No, it's nothing like that. Agreeing to follow policies would be a form to sign, not a part of your grade, much less a bigger one than your other qualifications. Much less having to pass a DEI exam more than once, at every step. The latter is just mind bogglingly stupid. You are saying the same thing as I did - they have to agree to follow the university policies etc.
Both can be true. It's amazing how anti-DEI initiatives can be blatantly and openly white supremacist, and they call us racist.

Both can be true.
Seems a good test of their communication skills and their agreement with the university policies, goals, aspiration etc.No, it's nothing like that. I've never understood why people care so much about hypocrisy. I think the racism is bad, regardless of any hypocrisy about it.It would still be hypocritical even if both are true.

Many white supremacists don't consider themselves racist, they honestly believe that people of color are inferior and that there is science that proves it.It's amazing how anti-DEI initiatives can be blatantly and openly white supremacist, and they call us racist.
What hypocrites.
