Split Thread DEI in the US

What's a DEI purity test? It sounds like from what you've posted that they were expected to understand and agree with the universities policies and processes to get a job there?
No. They had to spout the acceptable diversity statement or not get considered. I'm sure you were aware of that. And repeating a politically correct catechism has nothing to do with merit.

With apologies to Bill Watterson:

This really does show that DEI is just racist. Is there any example of diversity, equity, and inclusion used to include a White person or "gasp" a straight White male (who doesn't wear a dress)? Of course, not. DEI is not about diversity, equity, or inclusion. It's a way for racists bigots to hide their racist bigotry.

Yes, we know what the good intention was.

We also know - and knew all along - what the obvious failure mode was.

Instead of taking steps to mitigate against the obvious failure mode, proponents simply accused anyone who expressed concern of being racist.

So let's move beyond the good intention, and address the practical challenges and the costs of getting it wrong.

With apologies to Michael Mann, screenwriter for the movie Heat: "Anti-DEI folks can hit or miss. DEI proponents can't miss even once." Because every single scandal involving an unqualified minority hire just makes DEI programs look that much worse, that much more political, that much more racist.

It's amazing how anti-DEI initiatives can be blatantly and openly white supremacist, and they call us racist.

What hypocrites.
I don't know if hypocrite is the correct word, but the notion that DEI is about diversity and inclusion is just a lie.

You are saying the same thing as I did - they have to agree to follow the university policies etc.

No, it's nothing like that. Agreeing to follow policies would be a form to sign, not a part of your grade, much less a bigger one than your other qualifications. Much less having to pass a DEI exam more than once, at every step. The latter is just mind bogglingly stupid.

Seems a good test of their communication skills and their agreement with the university policies, goals, aspiration etc.

It's not a proper religion until you've got the dogma, heresy, and autos-da-fe.

I've never understood why people care so much about hypocrisy. I think the racism is bad, regardless of any hypocrisy about it.

I would say, judging by art's posting history, he is also of the mindset that racism is bad. It's bad no matter which way it goes, but it has heavily leaned one way for a few centuries or more. Pointing out the hypocrisy is part of the process.

There is also the fact that people pushing DEI policies are not intentionally trying to hurt anyone, or take opportunities away from white people. That's just some ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ that a bunch of white, whiny ass hats scream because they don't get a leg up based on nothing more than their skin color.

That being said, look at the vast majority of folk that are vehemently against DEI initiatives. Do you see a common pattern among them? Look at all of the other threads that tackle the subject matter of equal rights, whether it be LGBTQ+, racism, and the like, and you'll notice a trend. You'll see the same people in those threads screaming that any form of equality for others means less for them and, I assure you, they're all white people.

Many white supremacists don't consider themselves racist, they honestly believe that people of color are inferior and that there is science that proves it.
