Merged DDWFTTW in a “Real” Wind

I think I figured it out. If someone did build a cart specifically to lose traction so it wouldn't go up TM, he would use it as an example of a failed cart which proves DDWFTTW is not possible as he uses I Ratant's and Platt's carts.

That would give us four carts that can't go up TM ,including the winged brick, which soundly proves it's impossible!

WindGrins:)

I have you all on the end of a string, waiting for the axe to fall on your lamentable cart. Dance.

A better pun than yours, and more apt.

The cart without a prop, moves back driven by no more than .05N, and an average of about . 03N. Can't solve that one, and then concluded what it means? Doh.
pun   /pʌn/

noun, verb, punned, pun·ning.
–noun
1. the humorous use of a word or phrase so as to emphasize or suggest its different meanings or applications, or the use of words that are alike or nearly alike in sound but different in meaning; a play on words.
2. the word or phrase used in this way.
That is, calling me meubelstuk isn't a pun, and calling you/your argmuments/this thread a perpetuum immobile isn't a pun either.

Also, I don't care about your Newtons.

Humber, Deciphering your meaning not worth the effort!

A light cart doesn't take a lot of force to accelerate?? Wheels have angular momentum??? You would like to present random tidbits as if they are meaningful????

Humber, If you have a point, perhaps you should attempt to make it clearly. Since it is usually wrong and garbled in your presentation, most of us don't have a clue what you are trying to say!

Your nonsense is bad enough without trying to be cryptic about it.

Can't see it? Stuck, like a dense oak table.

I am sure you don't care about Newton. You know better.

An ideal machine will not be able to pass Vbelt/2. P= V*f F is proportional to 1/V, so maximal available power occurs at V/2, where the carts demand is then the same as the available power.
This must be true, otherwise the cart could gain KE relative to the ground, for less energy expenditure by the belt, and over-unity would be possible.

When the wheel is at a maximum AV, at Vbelt/2pi*r ( "windspeed") the available power must be zero, just as it is when AV = 0. The available power is a parabola symmetrical about V/2. When at "windspeed" the AV relative to the ground is 0m/s, but there is no power to keep it there. If forced there, the cart will move back to v/2, if forced below v/2, it will return to that point.

If the force from the belt is kept constant, but the work done by the belt is transferred to another frame ( the angular frame of the prop) it can stay at 0m/s wrt the ground, but not consume much power.
To get power, let the wheels turn slightly slower than Vbelt/2pi*r, by intermittent contact with the belt.

Keeping F constant, and use the inertial mass of the prop as an integrator.
Solved.

But I thought Humber was supposed to be designing a propless cart?:D

One of humber's delusions is the belief that on a treadmill, the prop works by storing kinetic energy, and can therefore be replaced with a flywheel. Trying to make this work so he can prove all the carteers wrong is likely what has been occupying the few waking minutes he doesn't spend posting nonsense to internet forums. Unfortunately, he has lied and claimed that he already has it working, because he's convinced he can make it work. He imagines that all the carteers are trembling in fear of the day that he will make it work, and prove them all wrong.

In fact, we are all laughing at his delusional claims.

Did jDuffy hijack humber's account? That last post could only be the product of his humbersim. Surely no sentient human could assemble such a hodgepodge of non sequitor nonsense.

surely??

yes, I know better by now... but wow.

You are all so very worried. The cart(s) exits and the prop cart is shown to be a joke, by a number of tests involving a feather and a sheet of paper.

The video of the cart without the prop shows a peak force of no more than .05N, ( allowing for the maximum acceleration that may be reliably determined), and an average of .03N, until JB stops matters before it becomes too obvious that the cart quite often drifts back at that same speed, even with a prop.

The velocity is 0.3m/s, so the power required is .03N*0.3m/s = .009W.
You have been following the retelling of a hoax of 50 years ago.

Humber, if you have a cart, please demonstrate it. Somehow, "worried" is not the phrase that comes to mind here. By all means and by all haste, do show us your cart-or don't. Whichever makes you feel better. The one thing that makes you appear to be a completely insane is talking about your cart without producing it. So, please don't waste keystrokes any further, either just stop talking about your mythical cart, or show it to us. Either way's fine. The suspense is not killing us, reading another stupid post about your non-existent cart is.

I think you missed the part of my post about "Humber, Deciphering your meaning not worth the effort!"

If you have a point, please make it. At best interpretation, I'm getting the idea that you are saying it takes very little force to accelerate the propless cart. This is not a profundity! Do you actually have a point you can articulate?

Have any of your coworkers/family/friends ever told you that you have difficulty communicating? Focus, please.

Oh yeah, I'm worried,
So worried I can't sleep at night.
Look, this is me worrying.
Worry worry worry I go.
See how worried I am?

Meanwhile back in the real world...

humber has no cart, cannot make a cart and will never have a cart. He makes promises but he has no building skill as all. Even when given the chance to run the simplest of experiments he has not done so. In the world of science openness and the repeatability of experiments is key. In humber's world it means that you are copying each other and not doing original work. In fact it seems that an experiment that gets the same result with many people is more suspect than an experiment where only one person gets the same result. Replicating results shows that you cheated and therefore voids the original experiment:boggled:

I'm starting to think you are wrong about this.

The real problem is that no one will give him access to a treadmill. Would you?

I would, provided I had a waiver of liability signed by humber and his next of kin, four nurses and/or nursing assistants supervising him, and a trauma team on standby, but that's just me.

When I think of humber working with a real functioning treadmill I get this image of a drunk Adam Savage being thrown off the treadmill into a wall. You may want to include a helmet.
