The cart shakes? Tips over? Doesn't work?

What point do you imagine would be proved by this silly experiment?

That is a perfect example of a typical humber experiment. Before work on the Blackbird was begun and spork and JB were fooling around with the small carts on the treadmill humber always proposed tests that at best would prove nothing and at worst break a cart. For some reason spork never performed any of those tests for him.

Everytime I read this thread, I am amazed at how this discussion could have taken 10,000 posts to address...

But than I see time and time again where rational and well thought out posts like yours are just ignored, and responded to with fake mathmatical calculations and emotional arguments.

I am not sure if anything can be done to convince Humber or ppg.

Maybe I missed this somewhere in the hundreds of pages of discussion, but why doesn't Humber just build a cart without a prop that advances on a treadmill and prove everyone (or himself) wrong?

Thank you very much for your comments HoverBoarder. Your last question is a good one. I think the answer may be one from psychology and not from physics.

A prediction!

Tweaking is called "guessing" in your case, until you emulated Bauer.
Then your are doubly-screwed. It works with or without vibration. Take your cart, and add a bit of blue-tack to the prop to unbalance it. See what happens.

I think I can predict this one! Severely unbalance the prop and cause the cart to lose traction and it goes down TM, bumbling and bouncing along!

That's my physics prediction!

I think that there may be publications not from Wired's stable, who may be interested in the man who fell for his own "brainteaser", and then got Wired to publish it.

Is this a prediction that you will have an article of yours published in an actual magazine, or will it just be in your mind? I know you have grown accustomed to speaking in riddles instead of clearly stating things since you are always proven wrong if you do but I'm wondering if this time it may have been unintentional. I assume you would be proud that a magazine would be interested in your article. Let us know.

Just checking to see that you still aren't willing to have a genuine conversation about this - one in which we answer one another's questions.

Please just go ahead and ignore this post to confirm you're afraid of such a discussion.

I think he's run away, another real victim of Humberization.

The joke is on you. Bauer pulled a hoax 60 years ago, and you have fallen for it, because Spork did.

I think he ran out about two years ago, but until recently, his capacity to keep recycling the same foolishness appeared to be infinite.

Though he deserves the medal for recycling garbage, every once in a while he does throw new garbage on his pile - take a few posts ago where he claims Bauer was a hoaxer. Until that switcharoo he has long and stongly held that Bauer never even *claimed* to go DDWFTTW.

Humber is just busily working on his cart. He is trying some new lubricants today. If he can reduce the friction enough... GL Humber, maybe today will be the day!

If you could understand his paper, you could find where he pulls a fast one.
The only trial was recorded by him, not instrumented and anecdotal.
You have not only copied his idea, but methods. Perhaps he was no more willing to lose his bet, than you are to say the cart is a failure.

Four is a quorum!

A reasonable prediction. Far more difficult to predict is why humber would think this refutes ddwfttw.

I think I figured it out. If someone did build a cart specifically to lose traction so it wouldn't go up TM, he would use it as an example of a failed cart which proves DDWFTTW is not possible as he uses I Ratant's and Platt's carts.

That would give us four carts that can't go up TM ,including the winged brick, which soundly proves it's impossible!
