As for me, common sense tells me that chopping a huge chunk out of a structure then setting it on fire will cause it to collapse.

Common sense tells me that when the top ten floors of the world's biggest building drop the height of one floor, there ain't a damn thing a human ever built that will stop the mass of those ten floors.

I was going off of freefall times that someone else came up with. According to this video, freefall for flat steel beams would be 5.6 seconds over the distance of 100 meters.

So we divide 100 meters into the height of WTC 2 (415m) We get 4.15.

4.15 X 5.6 = 23.24 seconds.

At 14 seconds into this video there is a very noticable 'thump'. This could well be the mass of pancaked floorplates slamming into the basement.

So far we have 14 seconds plus at least 0.5 seconds of collapse not captured, plus perhaps upto a second more when the collapse has begun (ie columns bowed out, tower began to lean) but may not have been audible 900ft away.

14 + ~0.5 + ~1 = much slower than freefall. And this was the faster collapse of the two.

Come on. Show your calculations for how long WTC7 should have taken to collapse. You can use an upper section and a lower section and adjust either depending on where you think the collapse began, show us how much resistance the lower section should have provided.

Oh come on 28th! You're a genius. Your 150 IQ mind should be able to compute this in an instant. All you need a calculator, about 4 formulas and excel. I can do this and I haven't had a physics class since I was 15, and I got a C.

We know the big facts... we know that all of these things are possible... but you (skeptics) insist on dragging the debate down into the muck (in an attempt at debunking) of minor details for which the answers can only be derived from speculation.

See, it's the same thing as NIST using something like computer simulations (beyond the physical world) to prove all of their (physical) real-world theories... since they control all of the inputs (facts/variables/evidence) they can get these simulations to generate only the answers that will confirm their original hypothesis.

Incorrect. Experts from abroad would be able to tell if the data wasn't realistic. But a layman like you wouldn't.

This is the typical reaction of people with no expertise in the relevant field. They spot something they think is relevant, and seeing all the experts disagreeing with them, they decide, out of the blue, that all the experts are wrong and that, since it's so "obvious", they are also wrong on purpose.
