RT, I can assure you I am telling you things I truely believe or I would not say them. I will admit I am not a scholar or theologian, but I am filled with the Holy Spirit which is the 3rd person of the trinity who helps us understand spiritual truth and leads us into all truth if we are truely following Christ and His teachings.
Why do you only respond when you want to say somethiong mean to me?
You think I'm being
mean to you? I've got a hot flash for you, Sweetheart: I haven't even BEGUN to be "mean" to you. Trust me, if I wanted to be mean, they couldn't ban me fast enough.
No, Kathy, you're not a scholar or theologian. However, Dwight L. Moody would have insisted that you at least attempt to be one. When he founded the Moody Bible Institute, everyone, from himself on down to the janitors who cleaned up at night were called "Scholars." When Peggy went to Biola University, (for one year; her math skills were lacking), she was expected to take a full course load in Biblical Theology. The Church where my son Jon is attending presently, Adventure Christian Church, is the same way: He's expected to study the Bible, and to do so not only while he's at the Church, but while he's at home. He's been through the Bible a couple of times that I know of.
However, unlike you, Kathy, Jon does not thump it constantly, thinking that this somehow makes him "holy." He'll argue points with people here on this board, (as Digital Hoser), but at the same time, HE WILL LISTEN TO WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING TO HIM! In spite of his differences of opinion with Tricky, the Atheist, and others, he actually learns from them, and even enjoys his discussions with them when he can have them. (Studying Fire Science in college is more than a full time gig for him.)
You're filled with the Holy Spirit? To borrow from Claus, "Evidence?"
You have lied from the start about your purpose here. You lied when you denied what you said on Firestream. You lie when you continue to answer Fowlsound's question. You have demonstrated a mean-spiritedness that leaves even your fellow believers cringing. And while I disagree with Huntster and others, Huntster, for all his bluntness and harshness, is consistent and is trying to be honest. Rather than honoring the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, you are blaspheming Him with your actions.
People here have actually been far kinder to you than you realize by insisting that you be honest with yourself, and with others. Frankly, Peggy has read and listened to some of what you have said, and is insulted by your hatred. You have, at times, been so thrilled with the misery experienced by others on this board, you've practically climaxed. Who's being "mean," Kathy? Frankly, having met Fowlsound face to face, and having experienced his phenomenal kindness, I'm offended that you would suggest that you're somehow being kind by your brutal remarks regarding the man's fight with cancer. It hasn't brought him closer to God; it's pressed him closer to science, because that's what's saving his life, not someone's nattering good thoughts.
If you do little else here, I would suggest you go back and reread some of the posts from MLynn, from Kittynh, from any number of women and men who truly have devoted their lives to service to Christ. You might learn something of genuine humility, as opposed to your blatant condescension. I would suggest you start listening when people tell you that what you're saying is offensive.
In a few weeks, it will have been one year since Enan Smith died from leukemia. There have been any number of people whose words have served to encourage Beth and Alan, and us as well. Yours are not among them. In one year, you have demonstrated you have learned nothing. That, dear lady, is far more indicative of a Satanic view than of a Christian view of life. If it were me facing something so cruel, I'd be looking to change direction, but quick, especially if I were convinced of Christ's imminent return. Based on your actions, I'd have to say that were Christ to return at this instant, you'd be down here with the rest of us dogs. You might want to think about that as you preen and preach and berate the rest of us for our lack of "faith."
