August Stundie nominations

[Rumsfeld] was a part of government, so when somebody makes a decision, everybody of the government agrees.

If they didnt they would have tell it .
...

Oh, wait, all you have is empty condescension. I forgot.
It's well-founded, not empty at all.
Someone sent in a story to Scott Adams about a manager who knew his project was going to slip its schedule, but was lying about it. A VP found out that the project would slip, and asked the manager point-blank about the slippage.

Manager: It'll be on time.
VP: I have it on good authority that the project will slip. You're either lying or incompetent.
Manager: I am not incompetent!

I think CE just did something similar.

Here, tmd2_1 highlights a classic flaw in conspiracist thinking:

Crazy ideas have, apparently, a 50% probability of being true.

I think your right, there appears to be a pattern forming. Jargon Buster (noconsentforme) entered this for the May Stundies. :)

let us examine "almost zero chance"

almost zero - indicates that it may be, however small, it may be in existence.

without proof one way or to the contrary of that way, yet the acknowledgement that it may exist is there. I would then have to say it might or it might not exist...that in my books is a 50-50 chance...far from almost zero as monsieur trolle in the form of noconsentforme posts, false and misleading statements.

Wasn't this already a Stundie from awhile ago? I seem to recall somebody having trouble distinguishing between possibility and probability a few months ago which is I think is what's happening in this one.

It's a new Stundie - in fact, it was posted yesterday - but on a subject that's been Stundied before, as deeper pointed out.

Facebook is like peer review!

A poster pixel8 defends "Doctor" Mercola and his natural cures for cancer

Because most good sites on the net let people comment on their articles and also 'Like' or tweet them. His site's articles have hundreds of thousands of Facebook Likes and tweets and hundreds of positive comments from the general public on each article praising him, giving him positive feedback from their own experiences too and improving his own knowledge along the way, everyone helps each other, and everyone benefits.
It's almost like an Open Source Health website, very comparable to how the Open Source software initiative works.

I wasn't sure whether there was a particular piece of Stundie gold in Marokkaan's argument as to why NIST is a commercial organisation, so I thought I'd post the whole mess.

Founded in 1901, NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce. NIST's mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.

Their goal is to make the economy better. To get more profit out an economy.
Thats why it is a part of the departement of commerce. Commerce needs always profit.

Here is a definition of commercial organization

The term commercial organization is general and applies to any group(s) with a particular set of skills, priorities, strategies, and resources that organize to collectively achieve the "specific aim" of making a profit. Ultimately, the first concern of commercial organizations is to make a profit for the owner, shareholders, or both, by providing products and services.
To properly understand what a commercial organization is requires being aware of the many "for profit" activities commercial organizations participate in. Although not an exhaustive list, notable types of commercial organizations specialize in entertainment, commercial broadcasting, banking, agriculture and organized crime.

As far as I can tell, by Marokkaan's definition, anybody not actively sabotaging their national economy is therefore a commercial organisation.

I need to go buy two lottery tickets tonight. If I buy one, I have a 50/50 chance either I win or lose. If I buy two, I should double my chances to 100%!!

So.....disbelief bought a ticket, I bought a ticket, disbelief hasn't won.....IT MUST BE ME!

I am afraid to check!

Here are my numbers 19, 3, 40, 47, 32, 48.

This probably won't make it to the finals, but it's pretty funny. The guy puts up an animated gif with lines drawn on to show how JFK's head doesn't move forward. The lines help you see that it does.:D

p.s. when this is pointed out he flat out denies that it does.:eye-poppi

That's incredible. He even has images showing the front of Kennedy's head exploding and says the back of his head is the one with the gaping wound. His fourth animated .gif shows the spray from the head going forward too. Incredible but 7forever has posted here and this is about the quality of post I would expect from him.

Here's a great quote from Anders Lindman later on in that same thread:

Yuck! Pretty gross pictures, but very good evidence for how JFK's head moves only slightly forward and a lot SIDEWAYS to the right. It fits my theory that the driver pushed a remote button while Jackie held JFK is a fixed position so that bullet(s) from the bottom of backseat of the limo had a clear path towards JFK's head.
