The Republicans' internal polling must be showing Ramaswamy heading for a defeat and so they might as well try a Hail Mary. Vance's response is beyond idiotic, as is Trump's, but at least we expect it from the latter. Vance has really impressed me with his poor political instincts over the last few months. I do kind of wonder how he expects to handle the question that stumped Kamala (What would you have done differently?).

Trump Officials Asked Election Security Agency to Secretly Obtain and Hack a Voting Machine, Report Finds

ProPublica reports that DHS appointees asked CISA to secretly buy and hack a voting machine for the White House. Staff objected, and the plan was abandoned.

The request was made a few months into Donald Trump's second term and directed at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, or CISA, the body created to protect voting systems from attack. The appointees wanted it to procure the machine, examine it, and report back, according to two former administration officials with knowledge of the request. Staff were also told not to warn the manufacturer of any flaws they found, a break from standard practice.

The only reasons I can think of to do this are to try to see if you can cheat or if they lose to then reveal some security flaw they found to claim the election results invalid.

Apparently this operation didn't move forward but there were other attempts to obtain voting machines and it's not like they're going to announce if they were successful.

Republicans have really destroyed trust in government, elections, and news media.
