Trump's Iowa lead shrinks significantly as Kamala Harris replaces Biden, Iowa Poll shows

Kamala Harris has significantly narrowed the presidential race in Iowa, cutting Donald Trump’s lead to 4 percentage points in a dramatic turnaround from Joe Biden’s double-digit deficit.

A new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows that Trump leads Vice President Harris 47% to 43% among likely Iowa voters — a far slimmer margin than the 18-point lead the former Republican president enjoyed over Democratic President Biden in late spring.

Before Biden ended his reelection campaign, a June Iowa Poll showed Trump leading 50% to 32%.

This is the Iowa Poll’s first test of Harris’ strength against Trump since she became the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in August.

“I wouldn’t say 4 points is comfortable” for Trump, said pollster J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co. “The race has tightened significantly.”

The wife and I walked around our local flea market today. As one can imagine there's a lot of Trump merchandise for sale. A lot of people trying to unload anti-Biden merch.

It's really hard to put into words but SOME of the spark does seem to be gone with the Trumpers.

Oh and the dude with the stall full of both Harris and Trump merch and trying to sell it both hard 50:50. Don't understand the hustle. Don't like the hustle. But I GET the hustle. There's a tiny amount of bemused lowest possible form of respect in there.

I don't think people still appreciate just how post-fact Trump and Trumpers have gotten. It goes beyond simple stupidity or hypocrisy. The words and terms don't even apply anymore really.

They simply have a complete alternative reality. And not even an alternative reality they live in, that would sort of in an insane way be better. They have an alternative reality that they use whenever it suits them, and discard whenever it doesn't.

He'll grift off this for certain, and I think from tweets I've read, he already has, with his never surrender, fist pump meme. Truthfully, I probably would too, if I were in his current piss-poor position.

I don't see how that's possible.

Every time a Republican became president, their policies resulted in a recession, or in the case of one president two recessions. Trump promises to fire everyone in the government and replace them with his supporters. Such an event would crash not only the United States economy, but world's economy too.

It looks more like they know that each attempt decreases the probability of survival and betting on that outcome. It strikes me as completely illogical to celebrate each attempt if they want him in office.


PS: Wait a minute... Doesn't the market going up after each attempt just incentivize more tries?

Because it's SOOO hard to just answer obvious questions like a normal person.

Not that she was even especially great at it. But even "pretty good" was better than Trump performed at sounding rational. No cheating required.

To them it is.

It's the same **** they play with "be a decent human." That's just so super hard to do. In fact it's so super hard to do that nobody is actually doing it. There's only two kinds of people, honest horrible people and "good" people who are really faking it.

Again take a step back and look at how much of the Trumper mentality is "It is actually impossible to be good, don't try."

That really is a core part of who they are. Good people? Faking it. Smart people? Faking it. Everybody is really deep down inside as stupid and horrible as they are, so they win because at least they are honest about it. That's really it a lot of the time with them.
