Charles Whitman is a particularly gruesome example of why they are not. He climbed up in a tower at the University of Texas and started shooting at people on the ground. He killed 17 people and wounded 32. He was shot and killed by a police officer eventually.

Perhaps you've never seen photographies other than those at cluesforum, or even had any taken of yourself, but this too is actually fairly common. I can put pictures of myself side by side and find lots of "inconsistencies" from photo to photo. What kind of camera and upload quality was used plays in, as does angle and lighting, not to mention what I'm wearing, what my hair looks like, and my facial expression at the time. I, like everyone else, look like different people in different pics, especially if you are predetermined to find differences.

So that a "mug shot" should look different than what looks to be a portrait shot should come as no surprise to anyone, except maybe the posters at cluesforum.

In 1913, a guy walked into a school in Bremen (Germany) with a gun and killed 5 children. Apparently he was motivated by Jesuit conspiracy theories, which today would probably make a number of self-declared "researchers" on the internet who like that flavor of CT scream "psy-op". The same year a man killed his wife and his four children in Stuttgart (also Germany), then took a train to a nearby town where he shot 12 people. The first-mentioned is not even on those Wiki lists, as probably are dozens of other verifiable rampage killings.

Not to mention that many illness can change a person's appearance and affect. In fact some forms of severe mental illness fall into this category.

Perhaps there is no motive for a healthy human being to do that, but the brain is a complex organ and when it goes off the baseline settings, it can go pretty far off the baseline settings.

The infinite variety of human behavior can be fascinating, amusing, and terrifying.

ETA: the reason truth is stranger than fiction is that fiction has to make sense.

I suppose since you simply make stuff up or lie when you post (as documented below), you seem to think that everybody else does as well. I suspect that most posts on this and many BBs are genuine and honest, and that since you cannot understand what a non troll is, you cannot understand how others can actually be honest when they post on a BB.

Let's not forget the worst school killing ever (The Bath School Disaster) was a 1927 bombing in Michigan. Thirty-eight schoolchildren killed.

Technology and the means for mass killings change, and perhaps the number of horrifying events seems greater now than previously (but whether this is because of increase in killing capacity, or the fact that such killings are more widely publicized or what, I don't know), but evidently this kind of horrible event is not unprecedented.

For that matter, I can't say with certainty that the number of such events have increased over the long run, but I'd be surprised if not.

Honesty or truth, whatever you want to call it, aren't often prevelant characteristic traits that I see in today's 'society'. Friends and family lie to each other for various reasons, some as innocent as lying to someone to protect their feelings. People lie all the time and can justify it whatever way they like. People lie on their cv's to get jobs they other wise wouldn't be able to get, and once they're in the door the deceitful nature of humans and capitalism means that the lies don't stop there. The higher up it goes in the world of big business, the more dog eat dog it gets, and many under hand and dishonest, dis truthful, acts take place. Example, Do you think Richard Branson or Alan Sugar made their billions by being 100% honest creatures, of course you shouldn't, they told many a lie, white-lie, and trampled on weaker competitors to get where they are.

The notion of truth is barely conceivable in the modern world. You wont find truth in the adverts that we're bombarded with, or on sky tv, from what I gather even the low level free masons don't have access to much 'truth'. The internet is a big place, luckily, so at least honesty and truthful people are found all over cyber space. It's a shame some of you guys take the official line stance, because the evidence of fakery in the media goes back a long time. Here's a couple of examples of people who have set the trend for modern day fakery:

As for me saying he was dressed like batman, that was what I had thought the story went like. I had forgot about it until I came on this forum board randomly and seen the thread. But you can replace batman outfit with whatever outfit he was supposed to be wearing and my statement is still valid, as I still don't think it happened regardless of what he was supposed to be wearing.

The families of the victims of these massacres do not believe that the deaths of their loved ones were fabricated. Forget the CT fan mindset and have a bit of common decency.
