The Biblical Realities of Hell

Im not sure it would without training.

Are there studies of when it shows up in primates? I figure we're somewhere below bees but still cooperative enough to live in social groups.

I believe that if you will look at the research you will learn that a seat of conscience has been found in the brain, somewhere in the frontal lobes. If that area of the brain is severly injured or destroyed, the individual in question will lose his/her conscience.

For the one-thousandth time, how do you tell the difference between the "God stuff" and the "added by people stuff" in the Bible?

Note to Edge: "the stuff I don't like was added by people, all the other stuff is from God," is not an objective or appropriate criterion.

Can you make it bigger I am having a hard time reading what you wrote?

I'll say it one more time for the 100th time.
Accept God/Jesus first then you will be able to tell.
If you don't see what I wrote I will make it bigger for you.

You worked right around my question.
Before it was in your brain where did it come from?
If you say evolution, that is God too. :D
It's good that you have emotion too, because that is from God as well.

Accept God/Jesus first then you will be able to tell.

The problem, as has been repeatedly pointed out, is that hundreds of people throughout history have "accepted God/Jesus" and ended up believing different parts of the Bible were "God's words" and different parts were "man-made additions".

So the question is: what makes your interpretation the Good one?

Source.

Yeah, but they sure seem to be born with an innate sense of fairness, because they will let you know in no time flat (even at a very young age) that whatever you're doing is NOT FAIR! This sense of fairness will be engaged at just about any sort of point where people are treated differently, whether it is division of treats, differing bedtimes, or unequal punishment.

Good point.

Oualawouzou says:
You know, that's an argument that annoys me quite a lot ever since I became a father. Could someone explain why, despite that God-given morality, children still need to be taught that stealing is wrong, that sharing is good, that hitting people is a big no-no, that pulling the cat's tail is mean, that lying is dubious at the best of time and that a Sky Daddy willed us all into existence? It's almost as if they were born not with what humans call "morality", but with an array of instinctive behaviors aimed at strengthening their place in their group hierarchy...

Good point too.
Since morality starts with God, adults all through the ages then passed it down from the beginning.
If not we would abandon our children, there are examples of this… morality lacking in adults, when children wind up in dumpsters, why?
You could blame it on lots of things but it repulses just about everybody except those who are lacking morals.

When one has a magic being, one can make it anything one wants it to be, "Cut and Paste as Needed".

I'll walk the dog and think about that, be back in a few minutes.

Since morality starts with God
Again edge, morality in no way has started with any so-called god, watch any animal social group and one will find morals within it.

Also, you have not proven that your idea of a so-called god is real, until you prove that, you are just spining your wheels with us.

I didn't know cut and paste needed anything?
You idea of a god needs it all the time. 30,000 different christian church factions proves it and I'm not talking about the buildings.

I'm glad you're thinking about this, because it's so obviously untrue. Not everybody who accepts Jesus accepts that the pope is infallible, but to (some of) the Catholics who accept him, he is. All kinds of people accept Jesus and have different interpretations of the bible, whether they take the whole thing literally or say that some stories are more figurative or allegories. Some say that god has made sure his translations are inerrant, and others accept there's been some human error in transmission. Still others accept the exact same verses as the word of god, yet interpret their meanings completely differently.

For instance, how does your god feel about homosexuality? Is it a complete abomination which should lead to a public execution, or should they be allowed to marry each other in Christian churches? "Christian" teachings run the gamut from one extreme to the other, with every interpretation in-between. "Love the sinner, hate the sin." "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." "He created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve."

Face it, edge. The bible can be used to justify anything from institutionalized slavery to complete pacifism. If you want to use the bible to back up whatever belief you have, you'll be able to find some verses to support it.

You worked right around my question.

It's good that you have emotion too, because that is from God as well.
You don't just get to assert things. There's no evidence of a god, and there's no evidence that any of these things come from him/her/it. But if you want to start listing things off, why do you never say, "If you have a tapeworm, that came from God." "If you have cancer, that came from God." "If you get killed in a tsunami, that came from God."

I'll tell you what. If god is so upset with me for not believing he gave me morals and emotions, he's free to take them away at any time. That's not gonna happen, because he's completely imaginary.

I'll walk the dog and think about that, be back in a few minutes.

Have you thought about it yet? Because I know a lot of Christians who have accepted Jesus into their hearts and they say you're dead wrong.

First thing even though they are believing in different ways they have chosen a path that moves them forward to attempt a union with God.

Those different sects come from different cultures, nations and locality.
For instance the Deep South is predominantly Baptists.
The Chicago area is probably more of an Orthodox and Catholic persuasion.
This is from hard headedness and stiff necks. Just like the Hebrews.

When I was atheistic I used some of the same arguments, but that was long ago.
So now there are even more and better arguments from atheists that I couldn't answer at a certain point.

That started about 5 or 6 years ago, I was asked questions of great logic that I couldn’t answer.
So I asked God to help with the answers since he went through great lengths to bring me back to him, to keep me from becoming atheistic again or not.

They are not all from me, and even I have to do some of the legwork.

The answers to the objections seem to just appear in several different ways.

In some instances they are things that I read before I even know that people in here have asked the question till I come in here and I already have a link or source before I know the question existed in here.

There are many ways that this happen.
My whole though is and was that if God is true and true and moral, that he will work through me, because I might be at a loss to answer.

There were many times as a Christian I wanted to leave and never come in here again, because it was oppressive and depressing.

Till I was shown and helped by the Holy spirit/God.

It's not totally…. the perfect answer all the time, because of the Faith issue that God has implemented for now in these times.

But never the less it is amazing to me, because it clarifies it and refines it.
The answers are the only way that works to help understand his morality as being totally good and correct.

I have seen pastors join this forum and fall in less time than I have been here.
If this wasn’t true I would have joined your ranks.
After 10 years in here and another five being backed up with God that will never ever happen.

But even today I want to give up in here and I can’t, the word to do that hasn’t been given to me, because he is persistent about what he wants, and it’s simple as, so that all can be saved and I suspect it is as many as possible.
So the one thing right now I can tell you is that he hasn’t given up yet.
Not until Grace is withdrawn.

So one of my impressions is that it would be a great loss to God if your intellect is forfeited and we don’t have you with us later, because you are smart moral and correct in many things that make you interesting to talk to, if it is in a positive manner.

This is what I get.
Also the time is coming when I won’t be here either and I am hoping that will be soon.

Many in here think that heaven will be boring because it will be a never ending vacation of praising the lord but your work will continue my work will continue and his works will continue.
Learning more will continue, even now and later.
Read the parable about the vineyard owner.
There’s time, thank God.
That’s praising, parsing is approving or thanking something most of us do always and anyways, because it is good for humans and for the spirit of others.

All this that I wrote did not come from me even now.

This is the first time I am reveling this to you about how I know.

Even I still have to have faith for the unseen.
Are we

Have you thought about it yet? Because I know a lot of Christians who have accepted Jesus into their hearts and they say you're dead wrong.

Tell them to come and talk to me.
I'm not worried about them.
Neither is Jesus.
He's worried about you.
We all have the same basis.

You really don't want to address this problem, do you? Are you, and those who agree with you 100% regarding theological matters, the only people to have truly accepted Jesus into your hearts? There is no god but God and Edge is his prophet?

Again get your head out of the O.T. that was one peoples interpretations of God.

You guys have to make up your minds do you want verses or not?

The way of the world is we will all die or be killed, that's nature and we live in this new nature/creation, which is nature and nature of the universe.

**** happens even to believers.

Everything in the universe is based on reward and punishment.
Think about that for a moment.

Then everything from the beginning is about morals from a creator.

I'm glad I was rewarded with a healthy baby girl instead of being punished like a close friend who lost his three weeks old child.

But hey, mysterious ways and all that.

ETA: You might want to ask Doc to help you out with that line of reasoning.

So now Jesus is telling you that the entire Old Testament is out?
