I expect the Palin communications office is frantically trying to come up with a way to spin the removal of their target map.

Something like: Our hearts go out... etc... And so we have chosen to modify some of our web content which, while we believe could not be taken in any way as to incite violence, might been seen as insensitive now in light of this tragedy. Again our hearts go out.. etc...

My point is (call me a crazy idealist) but on a skeptics forum, I would hope people would wait for some substance before wildly speculating.

I think your points are excellent topics for debate. I just think this is neither the correct thread nor the right time (to soon) to include this event in the body of evidence. Sorry counselor if I've misused the term evidence in this context ;)

Because I'm talking about political rhetoric concerning violence. Whether that motivated the shooter or not, I'm arguing it's wrong. You disagree?

Or are you arguing she didn't put crosshairs over her district?

Then I think you're a lousy lawyer, at least you are in how you represent the law outside of a courtroom. You, of all people, especially as someone who represents defendants in murder cases, should be one of the first people to insist that we let the facts of the case, not idle speculation, guide our reasoning and conclusions. You should be leading by example, not following the herd.

Your excuse is like a doctor saying that, while he/she isn't in the clinic, they should refrain from speaking out against medical nonsense. Worse yet, it's like said doctor promoting said medical nonsense, because hey it doesn't matter since they aren't in clinic, right?

What is the "wild" speculation? That an assassination of a judge and an attempted assassination of a congressman is politically motivated?

That hardly seems wild to me.

It would be more surprising if the guy saw a crowd and randomly started shooting, especially since reports say he approached Gifford from behind at put the gun to her head.
