Merged Rep. Giffords Shot In Tucson

I wholeheartedly agree. But we do not make a good example by appealing to over-the-top Dem/liberal fear-mongering, now do we?
Do we make a good example by making comments to the state of mental health of the shooter without factual support?

And specifically to you, do you think that if you ignore my comments you will somehow not still be a hypocrite?

From the current MSNBC article on this:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40978517/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/

Her Tucson office was vandalized a few hours after the House vote to approve the health care law in March, with someone either kicking or shooting out a glass door and window. In an interview after the vandalism, Giffords referred to the animosity against her by conservatives. Palin listed Giffords' seat as one of the top "targets" in the midterm elections because of the lawmakers' support for the health care law.

"For example, we're on Sarah Palin's targeted list, but the thing is, that the way that she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district. When people do that, they have to realize that there are consequences to that action," Giffords said in an interview with MSNBC.

I'm with those who say Palin has this to answer for. [edit] "This" being that targeted list.

One of our Reps, John Salazar, is also on that list, and the target is right over where I live.

Sorry for my extreme reaction, but I agree, Palin has no place in US politics. I wouldn't want her to be so much as a dog-catcher.

irony, is simply not strong enough a word.

Good point. I am not a mental health professional, so I hereby retract my earlier assertion that I thought, based upon the Youtube video, that the "shooter" (supposedly the same person as that who authored the video), was mentally unstable.

And congratulations to you, because that automatically means that all the politically-oriented speculation performed on this thread, along with the non-evidence-based finger pointing, is perfectly justified. Thank you for allowing me to see the light.

Let us continue to devour each other like hyenas, because we shouldn't let a little thing like evidence lead us to conclusions, only our particular political biases :)

And specifically to you, do you think that if you ignore my comments you will somehow not still be a hypocrite?

Since I've responded to this ham-fisted argument on more than one occasion, I can hardly be ignoring you.

it would be FASCINATING to find out that this guy just randomly happened to pick a Congressperson that just happened to be on Palin's target list.

my..the coincidences are astounding!!

thaiboxerken - Take a deep breath and try to relax. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss the implications of whatever political slant, if any, these killings have.

Honestly, this thread has all the emotion and substance of the paranormal and conspiracy theory forums.

Certainly not the right one, anyway.

How about Mein Kampf. That's a right-winger's all-time classic.

I think they all get one under their pillow after they lose their first tooth.

The topic is so fresh that we don't have an accurate death toll and you are trolling and making jokes. What is wrong with you?!

Your whining doesn't make it so.

Speculating that the attempted murder of a political leader may be politically motivated is NOT fear mongering.

When someone is as far down the rabbit hole as you, my friend, it is no wonder that you cannot see daylight.

I agree with MattusMaximus. It is rather interesting to see who was posting what in this thread, in that it wasn't surprising at all.

Saying that a youtube clip sounds crazy is different than saying that the guy could be a tea partier likely pushed by Palin. No amount of the semantic quibbling going on here to justify people's weird fantasies will change that. If you want a particular outcome here, it says more about you than about the situation.

In a few days, I'll either be saying "I told you so" or "I was wrong." Either way, speculation is not fear-mongering.

If I wanted to fear monger, I'd be saying stuff like "this is only the first" or "tea baggers have started their civil war!"

So we need to wait until we learn more about the shooter to decide if Sharron Angle was correct in saying that people should turn to "second amendment remedies" if they lost the elections?

Or does this instance of violence let us conclude that we shouldn't be so glib about the subject?

I guess I'm just speculating wildly here. If the shooter's a democrat, then Palin was correct in putting crosshairs on Gifford's district, if he was republican then it was wrong. Is this your point?
