Merged Rep. Giffords Shot In Tucson

its clear, that except for The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf, this guy's book selection is a standard for any good anti-Authoritarian self-made revolutionary.

This guy was a conspiracy nut. He was into Animal farm by Georg Orwell. He was the one inventing "big Brother"

From his rantings:

"I know who's listening: Government Officials, and the People," Loughner wrote. "Nearly all the people, who don't know this accurate information of a new currency, aren't aware of mind control and brainwash methods. If I have my civil rights, then this message wouldn't have happen (sic)."

Let's split the difference and both just baselessly speculate he was a truther.

I am speculating that the shooter was a tea-bagger, Palin fan.

I am also speculating that someone will complain about the "tea bagger" label in this thread.

The fact that some of them decided to change their name does not require us to go to the new one. They chose to found themselves as and wear the hats showing clearly: tea-baggers. And I believe them.:D *

*To clarify, that's the only thing I believe about them though - that they have said. I believe a lot about them from observation and none of that is good.

The best I can say is that MAYBE they are so ignorant they actually do not realize how badly they as well as real people would be hurt if the things they want were actually enacted. Just wish it could somehow be done so that only they would be affected and the rest of us could go on with a real life in a real United States.:(

You are misreading posts, especially TW's.

Tell us why all those references to violence in the Repub campaigns are of no consequence?

You need a refresher on how our system of law and the courts work. It is up to those making the accusation to put forth the evidence, not for the defense to prove the opposite. You should be showing why all those references to violence in the Repub campaigns are of consequence, otherwise you are asking me to prove a negative and putting me into an impossible position. Hence, the reason why our court system is set up as it is.

Now there's a Repub Congressman on MSNBC calling the shooter a "monstrous degenerate", "a lunatic with a scrambled brain". That is not what we are saying here. How sad for the mentally ill to be called monsters, if that is the case here. The Repub is doing so to downplay any link to their political tactics.

You're surprised that a politico would resort to such tactics? Then why defend those in this thread who employ the same tactics? Oh, I see... because the people using the same logic in this thread are on your side of the political aisle.

Aside: it might interest you to know that I'm on your side of the political aisle as well. Unless you are going to sling about the charge that I'm not a real Democrat.

But the rhetoric calling for violence IS A FACT regardless of how much or little in contributed here.

No doubt. Such rhetoric is reprehensible and we should expect much more from our political class - I would hope that this is a wake-up call for the Tea Party folk who have employed such rhetoric in the past. At the very least, the GOP leadership should be more forceful in voicing concerns over such language.

However, a causal link between such language and the crime in question has not yet been established. Wait for the investigation to continue, and let's see what is discovered

I found this on the shooter's youtube channel. Not sure if anyone else here on the JREF forums have pointed this out before but, it seems that the shooter was into mind control and something called "conscience dreams":

Somehow, I am reminded of that conspiracy nut who flew a small airplane into the pentagon a while back. Can't remember that guy's name though.
But he was also angry over having to pay taxes. That would be stoked by the right wing rhetoric.

Mattus, I'm not making a claim that the guy is a tea-bagger. But I will bet that he is based on pure speculation. There is nothing non-sceptical about speculation.

And if any good comes out of this tragedy, a discussion of the over the top Rebub fearmongering would be it.

I wholeheartedly agree. But we do not make a good example by appealing to over-the-top Dem/liberal fear-mongering, now do we?

As for the possible book list: This really means nothing. I have Republican friends that would list Animal Farm and the Communist Manifesto as favorites and Jewish friends that would do the same of Mein Kampf. Favorite does not mean being in agreement with. Personally, the bible is one of my favorite anthologies. Also I am an atheist.

His youtube videos on the other hand do present a case for anti-authortarian streak and as a gold/silver CTer.

Congress women Giffords and at least 6 others killed by gunman.
Sad news for our nation, not because I know her politics or her, but because when we start heading down this road it only leads to horrible things.

Of course he was acting alone and no one else is responsible,
but I bet I wouldn't get much odds on the shooter turning out to be a
fox news listening, Palin loving tea bagger wacktard doing one to save his beloved country from the eeeevil sooocilist horde.

So you have no comment about the right wing rhetoric about guns and violent remedies unless it turns out it directly caused this incident? You're OK with that campaign tactic until it leads directly to a murder or shooting?

Is that the topic of this thread? Start a new thread if that is your overriding interest here.

In all honesty, what the hell are you talking about?

I'm a lawyer. I go to court everyday. I've defended people accused of murder.

This is a message board. We're discussing an on-going event as information comes out.

The two are very different.
