Merged Rep. Giffords Shot In Tucson

A parade of Congresspeople who worked with her are going on the tv to sing Gifford's praises. The consensus is that she was a wonderful woman and no one has a negative word to say about her.

It would have been nice if that had been the tone of the elections, "Here's a really good person I disagree with on policy."

I know it's a lot to wish for.

IIRC, Jesse Kelly was her opponent in the race. He did, in fact, hold a fundraiser to shoot pictures of Giffords with an m-16. Real classy.
 
Let me ask you guys this: Who had the most to gain from gunning down a Democrat politician? They probably orchestrated the whole thing, and with a compliant MSM they'll get away with it just like they did with Vince Foster. Funny how this happened right after we swore in a Congress. Democrats will do anything for power, and they can try: from my cold, dead hands.

I wonder if the hospital spokesperson was trying to delay the report of the death, maybe to help the husband reach the kids first or something, or to give the kids time to get to the hospital and be told by him in person. I can see a scenario like that.


With twitter and the blogosphere, news of a death just can't be kept private until family are notified. I was following the missing WWU student in Bellingham a few months back. As soon as the police radio said they saw a body in the water and needed a boat to get to it, it was up on his "Find Dwight Clark" Facebook page. The police switched to text messaging after the first radio call knowing the radio was live on the Net (someone had put it up and lots of people were listening in).

I am very saddened that it had to happen this way. :(

How many more innocent people have to die before the Tea-Baggers and other understand that extreme and often violent rhetoric has no place in a democratic society?

NO. It's so IF the government starts acting like Nazis or Stalinist era Russia or whatever the big purge in China with Red Guard etc. was called, we have some ability to stop it. This isn't even close to that, so, no, it is not what the 2nd amendment is/ was put in the Constitution for.
