This is a defining moment in the future of the USA and the World.

If this is treated as a Left/Right issue with all the standard spume and rhetoric of American politics, I will be greatly afraid.

To draw conclusions, obviously.

I think people's initial reactions are interesting. This happened in Arizona which has become ground zero for hyperbolic reactions to immigration. There are endless possibilities about why this happened, but this is the sort of thing people have been warning Beck, Palin and others who are calling folks "unAmerican" or "Communist" would happen.

Maybe it's completely unrelated, but knowing nothing more than the party of the victim and the area where it happened, it's a reasonable suspicion.

Sarah Palin better take down that map NOW...and apologize to the Congresswoman's family and the families of the rest of the victims.

And if she doesn't....Palin, you are through.
 
A sheriff just said she's still alive. He was talking to the medical director. Maybe some small glimmer of hope.

ETA: Evidently her office had been vandalized during the election and a gun was found on the floor at a town meeting about health care last year.

Same Sheriff just went on a rant about all the heated BS that was going on in Arizona and how upset he was by it.

Speculation is speculation, but it seems like law enforcement has an idea about where this came from.

There is an Arizona journalist on CNN now saying the right wing rhetoric in the state has been over the top and this was inevitable because of it.

Tentative conclusion, speculating if you wish to define speculating as sometimes based on inconclusive but nonetheless available evidence. I'm not ruling out there are other shooters and the victims could be coincidences, of course.

where was this map found?
does it have anything to do with palin?
 
This is sickening. We don't yet know what the killer's motive was though - maybe he was just aiming to shoot up a supermarket?
However, if this was done from any political motive, then hopefully it will serve as a warning to the Tea Partiers, Palinites etc that they can't keep on whipping up hysteria against their opponents. If this isn't stopped, then the US will get like Pakistan, where you shoot any politician you disagree with.

Even if the killer never saw the website and never heard of Sarah Palin, the fact that she made a map of the USA with GUNSIGHTS listing Congressmen she doesn't like, is at the very least incitement.

And no, I am taking no pleasure in any of this. I wanted Palin to go down...but not at the expense of 6 innocent people. This is horrible.

A spokesperson from the hospital confirmed that Gifford is alive and in surgery.
