Skydiving at TAM8 - The Official Thread

Last minute additions, the morning of the 7th or 8th, might be fine, but not guaranteed. It would be wise to call, first, before heading out, just in case. Reservations, if and when you decide in advance, are recommended.

You will notice that one person cancelled, earlier in the thread. But, I told the place that there was a chance that spot might get filled with someone else, since I also got it announced on a Twitter feed. So, in theory, there should be room for one more, as I write this.

I will not be there on either day.

If I get the shirt, will everyone believe I jumped out of an airplane?

The doctors told me that it was one of my parasitic twi....

...OH, you meant the bent "golf-club" on the T-shirt?!!

I believe it's supposed to be a ripcord.

Could be a golf club. Or a ripcord.

Could be a bent spoon.

Let your imagination run wild. That's what art is all about. The red and black figures need not represent people. (Why should they be amputated and so round-edged?) And the thick-edged pie slice need not represent a parachute.

All interpretations are the responsibility of the observer.

For those who have not yet bought a shirt, I just got this email today:

Independence Day Sale - 17.76% OFF All Orders! Use Code: ZAZZLEUSAUSA
July 1 - July 5 at 11:59pm EST.

Update

Some misc. new notes to make note of:

You Can Still Join Us!
At the moment, the company is cool with last minute additions. They have spots left on both days, apparently.

Payment
We can each pay, individually, with our own credit cards and/or cash. They accept most major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, etc. But NOT American Express, for some reason.

(There is no need for me, nor anyone else, to collect money from the group.)

The Company
As a reminder: The web site for the skydiving company is here: http://www.vegasextremeskydiving.com/

Who To Meet, Where, and When
For the 7th
Attached to this post are two images of me. The first one is the T-shirt I was originally planning to wear, before the "Jump" one was designed. It states: "I Fear NOTHING!!! (except, maybe, parallel parking)". I would still like to wear this during most of the activity.

However, to make it easier to spot me, I will wear the official "Jump" T-shirt, the second attachment, when I am in the lobby, waiting for everyone. I should be near the check-in desks.

We should leave, promptly, at 9:45 AM. (If you want to go last minute, and miss us, you might be able to catch up, if you are willing to take a cab for yourself.)

There is no reason why we shouldn't be back in time for the volunteer's luncheon.

For the 8th
So far, DocM has volunteered to drive everyone, on this day. Hopefully, he will offer a photo for us, or at least wear the official "Jump" T-shirt.

However, I will offer myself as an emergency backup chauffer (assuming I survived my own jump). I will hang around the lobby a bit before 9:45 AM, near the check-in desks, to see if I am needed. And, I will be wearing the official "Jump" T-shirt pictured below.

You should leave at 9:45 AM, or so.

There is no reason why you should not be back in time for the 12:30 PM workshops.

Contact Info
Those who already registered will get a PM, from me, with my cell phone number on it.
All others can contact the skydiving company. See web site above.

This is going to be insane, isn't it?!

Nah, Scrut, I will simply do both. From the skydive to watching dives... (Spanish ones, obviously!)

Hm, sorry, providing a photo is a slight problem right now, as the ones I got on my iPad mostly show me wearing a hat (which I never do), or standing next to impressively large features of the landscape and looking pretty small. I will be around on Wednesday evening, though, and Yogzotot will be able to point me out.

It looks like my wife will chauffeur us. She wants to visit a bookshop while I jump, and pointed out that there's no reason why I should take the car keys, when there's no guarantee I'll come back alive....
