Skydiving at TAM8 - The Official Thread

My advice? Gather at 9:30, leave for journey to parked car at 9:35, depart South Point 9:40, arrive at Jean 9:55ish if all works out.

is it too late to join in on the 8th of July group?

If the one who organizes this thing would like to call me, my phone number is (323) 481-4710. The name is Torkel, but I usually go by T.

Nope. Not too late, apparently.

But, I would take Phyz's advice: get to the registration desk earlier than 9:45. Perhaps 9:30. Like I stated: It took longer to get down there than I was told it would.

And, it's not a good idea to place your phone numbers in posts on this public forum. You should have PM'ed me the number. (See Private Messages in upper right corner.) If you can't edit the post, any more, I would suggest you ask a mod. to do it.

WARNING: President's Visit May Shutdown Airspace Tomorrow!!

I was warned by the folks at Extreme Skydiving that the President might be visiting the Las Vegas area, tomorrow, on the 8th.

So, if it is at all possible, I would like those diving on the 8th to arrive before 8AM, instead of 10 AM.

They are not sure if and when the airspace will be shutdown. They want everyone to get here as early as possible, to play it safe.

If you have any questions, please contact Extreme Skydiving. Their contact info. is on their web page.

As the designated driver, I will be at breakfast from 7 am, and get the car at about 7:35. To make life easier for you, I will wear the "Amazing Jump" t-shirt. If you want to come along, please talk to me. (Keep a safe distance unless you are very sure I had a coffee, though.) I will leave from the hotel entrance at 7:45, sharp.

I don't know exactly how many people to expect, and i will not wait, so pleasse make sure you're on time.

Just wanted to drop a note (= brag) that the second team made it back alive as well.

Now, how do I convert that DVD's big VOB file into a MOV file I can use. Having no luck with VLC or readily found OS X VOB to MOV converters.

VLC won't even play the VOB file all the way through. The DVD seems fine, but I'd like the vid in more user-friendly format.

Handbrake; of course. It was right there in my apps and I didn't remember it.

Thing I love about JREF Forumites #417: they're smarter than I am dumb.

Thanks, guys!
