Skydiving at TAM8 - The Official Thread

Pre-TAM8 Skydiving Information Recap

(I have been requested to conjugate all relevant information into a single post, for easy linking reference and such. So, here it is.)

Ever wish you could jump out of an airplane, for what is rumored to be an incredible experience, fre—falling towards the Earth?! Well, now you can! We are looking for anyone to go skydiving before TAM8!

No experience is necessary. (This will be my first time skydiving, too!) This will be a tandem jump, meaning: A professional skydiving instructor will be strapped to you for the duration of the fall.

More information about the activity, and the company we are using, can be found here: http://www.vegasextremeskydiving.com .
(Don't let the word "Extreme" fool you: They welcome first-timer divers, and they come highly recommend by some folks I know, who know the industry.)

Requirements:
* You need to be at least 18 yrs of age, with valid picture ID
* weigh less than 240 lbs., be height and weight proportionate,
* and be in generally good health.

Try not to drink a lot of alcohol for several hours before heading out. They won't let you go, if they feel you are "too drunk or hung-over" to do so.

They can usually accommodate people with some disabilities but please contact them for information.

Cost: $185 for the jump (thanks to a modest group discount)
Add an additional $89 if you want to take home an HD quality video of your experience, for a total of $274.
I will look into how the payment can be made, soon.

When:
We have two groups leaving from the hotel on July 7th and July 8th, at 9:45 AM.
We will probably meet in the lobby of the hotel, near the check-in areas.
More information about who to look for will be available soon, in this thread.

The skydiving location is about 10 minutes away, and we need to be there by 10 AM.
We should be back from the adventure by 12 noon or so.
I am working out transportation plans with folks with rental cars. But, it might be wise to be prepared to split a taxi, just in case.

Reservations Recommended! Please let me know, in advance, if you would like to do this! Either add a post to this thread, or PM me; or, if you are not a member of the forum, you can e-mail me: Mitch@MitchLampert.net .

These are the brave souls who have signed up, so far:

Coool! Do you think it is possible to have this posted to the hotel to hold it for me? I may go for this option, considering it won't never make it to the UK in time, and it would be stupid to have it mailed back and forth across the Atlantic anyway...

I'm guessing that you could have the shipping address be different from the billing address. That's usually an option with online merchants. You might contact South Point for how best to address the parcel so they know what to do with it when it arrives. My experience is that Zazzle's pretty quick at producing shirts.

Looks like we'll arrive in Vegas some time late Wednesday evening. That means I can offer the use of a rental car for the Thursday jump. Since we're only three people so far, I guess no taxi will be neccessary.

oh man, that actually sounds kinda cool. But I still haven't made any travel plans. I'll rent a car but I'm not sure when I'll be in Vegas. Might be late.

Last chance to join in will be when?

Last minute additions, the morning of the 7th or 8th, might be fine, but not guaranteed. It would be wise to call, first, before heading out, just in case. Reservations, if and when you decide in advance, are recommended.

You will notice that one person cancelled, earlier in the thread. But, I told the place that there was a chance that spot might get filled with someone else, since I also got it announced on a Twitter feed. So, in theory, there should be room for one more, as I write this.

And I'm sure we're all much too mature to make chicken noises at that person whenever we see him, right? (Unless it's a chicken with a southern accent.)
