It's a Civil War: What We Do Now

SOME..of those opposed to the health reform have been calling vandalism "civil disobedience."

To be fair, I have heard similiar defenses being made about trashing stores and setting cars on fire during some Anti War protests..........
It's wrong for the Tea Baggers to do it, and it's wrong for the Anti War crowd to do it.

Yup.

And just how were they to do that when Obama and the democrats shut them out of discussions about the bill very early last year? You're deceiving yourself if you think for one minute that democrats honestly wanted to work with republicans to *better* the bill. You're even deceiving yourself as to the real purpose of the bill (in democrat leadership eyes).

To quote a consverative or two after Bush won, "Elections have consequences."

The only way this thread has any possible substance is if it's saying something other than, "Conservatives should vote for conservatives this November!!!" since that's kind of obvious.

So.... what is it? What was the OP suggesting beyond business as usual?

I don't get it.

I think that the 'call to action' is that conservatives should further close themselves off to discussion of any policy that they feel might not conform to their narrow ideological bounds, i.e. stop considering progressive positions as part of the legitimate democratic discourse. Whether or not this is really 'new' is I guess debatable.

I seem to remember how cash for clunkers went broke, yep great program there.

Cash for clunkers went broke. Yep, that was the goal. The goal was to take a set amount of money and use it to encourage new car buys (with more fuel efficiencies). When the money ran out that program ended.

You seem to be under the impression that the program was supposed to go impertuity? That's an odd conclusion for a fiscal conservative as that woudl cost a lot of money, right?

"Only 197 amendments [to the Senate health care bill] were passed in the end—36 from Democrats and 161 from Republicans."

Oh, those poor Republicans! That vicious, dictatorial Obama and his Democratic lackeys only let the Senate Republicans pass their amendments to the health care bill at a ratio of more than 4 to 1 over the Senate Democrats.

Why, they were practically bound and gagged to keep them shut out of the process and prevent them from having any input into the bill!

Civil disobedience is a strike; a boycott; a sit-in; a smoke-in; a march or rally conducted despite a lack of required permits. Trashing stores and torching cars (throwing bricks, taking pot-shots) was terrorism during the sixties, and it's terrorism now. I doubt if very many people in this country are all that fuzzy on the distinction.

If I was a Republican strategist what would piss me off the most was that Obama and co managed to stake something of a political victory in health care reform that didn't scare off funding sources worth many millions of dollars into the Republican fold. A public option or single payer would have done that.

Instead Obama and co got the reform AND managed to keep the pharma and insurance interests in their corner...

That's right. You don't get it, David. But I suspect come November you might be getting an inkling. :D

Yes...the GOP/Teabaggers will be swept to an impressive, VETO proof majority capable of repealling this complete and utter take over of the entire healthcare system (my god, does anyone know how many for profit health insurance companies went out of business today alone? It's like the freakin Hindinberg out there!) by the government -- I can see the slogan now:

Bring back Exclusions for Pre-existing Conditions!
Kick your kids off your health insurance!
When you lose your job you should lose your Health Insurance!
Let my insurance company double my premiums now!

Ah, victory will be so sweet!

3. Democrats should be referred to as Social Democrats.

I got no problem with this. :)

now, are we in a non-violent Civil War? Dennis Prager is a **** ing idiot and a disgrace to the Jewish people.
