The Christian side-hug.

We hava a Christian friend who's a very large guy who hugs EVERYONE. Unfortunately, he hugs everyone like he's 'Robert Paulson'. I hope he sees this video soon and takes notes.
 
The Christian side-hug - at which most Christians, by the way, are probably going to laugh - puts me in mind of those Muslims who are so afraid of their own sexuality that they insist on their women being completely veiled and dressed in potato sacks.

The point of the video is to get lots of hits and be popular. How is this so hard for you to understand?

Do you think creationists actually watch thunderf00ts 'why people laugh at creationists' videos?

Do you think Christians watch the 'mr. diety' videos?

Do you crap on these people for 'preaching to the choir' as well?

It's entertainment, lighten up.

Ahem.... I make my living -- and by extension the livings of many other people -- by "preaching to the choir".

It doesn't really matter that other people's goal may be to convert people to their cause.

That's not her goal.

It makes no sense to try to impose it on her.

What's your obsession with that?

Do you honestly believe that persuading people to change is the only goal of media?

Please tell me you don't.

Most of the time, the goal is to get your message out to audiences who already agree with you and to get them to spend their time watching your message rather than anyone else's.

In fact, my company spends a great deal of money identifying people who are highly likely to already agree with us, precisely so I can preach to that choir, rather than attempting to preach to a hostile one.

Jesus, boy, that's Marketing 101 right there.
 
To expand on what Piggy is saying. Once you have preached to the choir, either they sit back and be comfertable witht the choices they have made and if they hear other preachers than they know those preachers are talking rubbish, or they go out and convert others to their cause, one person at a time.
 
And don't assume the world can be neatly divided into pros and antis. Her video might not appeal to hardcore side-hugging Christians, but what would? It might, however, get Christians who are less committed to this rather silly practice to question whether that rap band's message is really one they should respect. In other words, it might make them think...

I know a very noisy Christian who isn't in the side hug at all. He smothers every woman he meets. And he's into character assassination and bearing false witness and attempted assault and an all-around douche bag, all the time proclaiming his faith.
However, the side hug from a male friend is better than the frontal encounter. :)
