From Rapture Ready

Someone recently told me that Mark Twain once said it best that there is more than one right way to spell in the English language, I must say I tend to want to agree with this point. I myself am more a phonic speller so I hope people can at least sound it out and know what I am trying to say.

Yoo shood tri too bee mohr fonetik.

Interrupting a bit, but I promise to use all real words:

Where is all this sin? Who's doing all this sinning? Are the actual sinners being punished proportionate to their sinning or does your god just randomly dish it out on earth and figure he'll settle accounts in the afterlife?

I mean, we've all seen bad people live long and comfortable lives, while many decent people suffer horribly. Whose/What sin is responsible for up to 40,000 young children suffering and dying every single day?

I really hate it when a teacher punishes the whole class for something that one student did, but your god is punishing kids who don't even go to the same school. "OMG! People are having sex before they're married! Send a tsunami to Indonesia! And is that woman in Kansas rolling her eyes at the preacher? Quick! Send more malaria to Africa!"

How exactly does the sin ---> suffering scenario work? And why do you worship the guy in charge of it?

Well I can't answer for you but for myself I worship God for making a way for me to be forgiven of my sins through Christ. He has reconciled me back to him and Jesus deserves my praise. I am a sinner who needs God to forgive me, that's all I know. It's not about religion, it's about getting Jesus right! Now I am prepared for death or rapture ready which ever comes first.

Kathy, how do you know that this isn't the "horrible tribulation period" right now, and that you were left behind, possibly because of the hideous bible-porn you've been spewing for several months of Sundays now? Perhaps for there to be any hope for you at all, you would need to throw down your crutches and become an atheist...

There is no way I could ever become an atheist! I think Norman Geisler said it all in the title of one of his books called, "I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist." I don't know if you have read this book but it may be something you would enjoy reading. In my opinion takes way more faith to try not to believe in our creator than it takes to believe in him because he planted eternity in everyones heart. How the heck does a persons intellect argue with that? Everyone will one day have to stand before a Holy God and give account for their lives, no one will get out of it! Woudln't it be better for everyone to feel covered by Christ and rapture ready than not?

Norman Geisler? Oh great, DOC's guru and one of the worst apologists in human history.
I don't know if you have read this book but it may be something you would enjoy reading.
Why? I've read some of his nonsense and he is writing his books for people like you. It is a self-masturbatory book and is a joke. It has as much intelligence behind it as the Creationist movement.

Wait, wait. So you have a belief that your belief implanted that belief in everyone? Do you know how stupid that sounds?
How the heck does a persons intellect argue with that?
because it is stupid? Very very stupid.

No. As have been repeatedly mentioned, you claiming and preaching things to people with a brain is truly sad. You have no idea how worthless your preaching is.

How will you tell the difference? In both cases you will be gone never to return.

Of course it could be the Islamic Jesus in which case it's burn baby burn.

All we really ask is that you stop believing in us.
And if that's too difficult, please try to train your sights on the real issues and stop the wanton persecution and killing of those who disagree with the wholly unholy and unsubstantiated claims that you have the one true woo

Yah I know sometimes it's hard for everyone to see God right when people suffer, but it's because sin does have penalties and this world is suffering because of that.

And God decides what "sin" is.
Conveient, that.
Your so-called God truly is evil.

How dare you! My mother was a saint.

I don't believe in "sin".
It is a religious concept, mostly used to make people feel guilty. Often over things that are not themselves wrong.

I should probably point out that not believing in "sin" does not mean I think that all actions are okay. Most people would understand that, but I've learned that those heavily inculcated into religions won't grasp such a concept unless it's clearly stated.

Would you care to make a challenge based on this book?

I mean, if you are going to tell me to read something, it would only be fair if you reciprocate, yes?

You know, all this talk about "sin" reminds me of Heinlein's definition (through Lazarus Long). "Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. Hurting yourself is not sinful, just stupid." One of the many quotes from Heinlein that have helped to shape my worldview.

Hey, if they can take their moral compass from a fictional character, so can I. :p

Another Hokulele Vs. KK Book Battle!!!

I'm going to put a dollar on KK and maybe win a few million bucks in return on the off chance that a miracle happens.

I've found Tom Waits similarly insightful
don't you know there ain't
no devil, there's just god when he's drunk,
well this stuff will probably kill
you, let's do another line,
what you say you meet me down
on heartattack and vine.

It's simple really....

If you haven't accepted jesus and things go wrong (and "wrong" could mean anything from getting a flat tire or poison ivy to getting a painfull and fatal disease)....it's because you've sinned.

If you have accepted jesus and things go wrong---it's jesus testing you. It's a character building lesson and after all-suffering is good for the soul and even if you do die---it's just that much quicker you get to heaven and see jesus.

If you have accepted jesus and things are going great....jesus is rewarding you with big houses,BMWs, and cheesy gold jewelry.

If you haven't accepted jesus & things are going great---just wait.......boy are you gonna get yours in the end.

Hugh Hefner for example---you may THINK he's had a great life---but just wait........

But are you equally as prepared to spend the rest of eternity burning in Hell for having made the wrong decision about which invisible monster to worship?

Too bad he said something so stupid. Then again, who knows what he really said? Hokulele asked you to do something simple and read one book, then tell us what you thought of it. You welched. No surprise, of course, since we've learned to expect nothing more from you than lies.

If the only thing you can give us is the title of this book, why should we bother?

No, Kathy. There is no creator. Period. No one planted anything in my heart except heartburn, every time I see your name attached to one of your horrid posts. Seriously. Don't you have some crosses to burn?

My intellect argues with it because I used to be the kind of hateful, cowardly, meretricious, slovenly, dishonest, wasteful, despicable, deceitful, gutless, lying, sophomoric, banal, self-righteous "christian" that you have demonstrated yourself to be. You aren't presenting a gospel; it's porno for pinheads, geared to the mindset of people who weren't popular in high school, so it's got to be someone's fault. Preach Jesus loudly and long enough, and somehow, you might become popular.

Fat chance.

Go rot, Troll.

I seriously doubt it. And besides, I've made a lifelong pledge not to indulge woo, so I don't buy anything even related to woo because I know that the purveyors of woo are greedy gits with no greater access to truth than you or I. In other words, they're mostly in it for the money. For some clerics, like perhaps your "fearless leader," Chuck, it may also be about access to swooning, semiliterate, antiscience, anti-intellectual women in their flocks, or to the women's children.

You are, of course, entitled to believe whatever twaddle anyone hands you, but I wouldn't trust any of these SOBs further than I can pee. The reason for this is really, really simple: none of them can provide a scintilla of evidence for what they proclaim. Not one jot. And that's not surprising since they're humans, just like you and I, and have no greater purchase on truth than my lovely little kitty, who's asleep right here beside me.
