What the hell are you talking about ? It was verified that there were and ARE no canals on Mars. Do you know anything about astronomy and its history ?

But why was it not a reasonable thesis at the time? Surely at the time it was a very good thesis. Based as it was by looking through a relatively weak telescope.

Why not take the evidence at face value?

To run away from the evidence is not skepticism but its opposite.

At this thread we have people in denial of the evidence.

So why run away from the evidence? To do so is occult-epistemology since it assumes that we can know what we cannot possibly know.

There must be some paradigm that is causing resistance to the evidence as it stands at face value.

But its not productive to choose one paradigm and exclude all the others. Thats occult-epistemology. Since you don't know the answer working backwards. The idea is to investigate competing paradigms in parallel.

I was following the evidence. Well it looks like some fellow in a monkey suit in any case. I saw that movie when it came out. And the cinema was packed. It was the night that colour TV came in and the first show that was on in colour was called Thrillseekers.

I remember it because it was a small town. But the crowd coming out was such a squash that you would swear it was in Jakarta or something.

That is the interest all this weird stuff had in the early 70's when the skeptic movement with guys like Randi, Ian Plimer, David Marks and a bunch of others stepped forwards to combat it. It was like we were falling backwards into a dark ages. And its not been like that again until now. But this time its even worse. Because this time the voodoo is more deceptive and far more relentless.

Sorry for that, GMB. I just couldn't help but be extremely entertained that you implied Sweaty is intentionally giving poor Martian civilization evidence and pooped on his beloved Patty.

Just so you know, it was Sweaty that showed me the evidence that led to the understanding about alien bred genetic manipulants (known as Bigfoot), interplanetary war, and its correlation to the Mars factor. On top of that, he believes the PGF has an extremely high chance of showing one of these Bigfoots based on what he asserts is unrivaled realism.

I'm sorry, GMB, but Sweaty is the go-to-guy around here for this stuff. I think Sweaty would agree with me that your monkey suit comment could be considered a form of denialism by him. You should ask him if he'll share some of the really good stuff with you.
