Apollo 11 Moon Landing Revisited: Hoax ~vs~ Debunk

57 years and not one person of the hundreds of thousands who worked on the project has ever broken their silence to claim, even to their own family, that their contribution was to help fake it. The US government control over their citizens is astounding.
Amazing! "Hundreds of thousands who worked on the project" received a memo saying 'Keep, shtum! We have decided to use training pictures to beat the Soviets. Please do not tell anyone. Anyone caught splitting on us will be sent to Coventry. So there. Please eat and swallow this memo as soon as you have read it. Never breathe a word to anyone. Cross your fingers and hope to die. By order of the Management and President R Nixon'.

The comparison that always comes to my mind was the 10,000 or so people who worked on wartime codebreaking at Bletchley Park. The Enigma story didn't leak into the public domain for over 30 years. There was at least one old married couple who only discovered in the late '70s that they had both worked there.

But.

Apollo of course concerns ten times as many people, double the time has now passed, and the fundamental difference is that the codebreakers were made to understand right from the beginning that they could never talk about the work they did. It was their clear patriotic duty. They were keeping silent for their country, not lying to deceive their country (and everyone else).
Yeah. Everyone would immediately be informed of the Big Secret. Who needs the police and military method of 'Chinese walls' and 'Need to Know' bases?

The important part here is that nobody expected the astronauts to waste time photographing the stars, which could be done much better by a telescope on the Earth. You and the other conspiracy theorists think that the astronauts should photograph the stars simply to "prove" to the CT'ers that they were on the Moon. But the whole idea that the astronauts were not on the Moon is so laughable, and easy to show otherwise that everybody with a brain know it for what it is.

And in any case, photographs of stars taken from the Moon would not have convinced your lot anyway. You would have said that it was suspicious that the astronauts wasted time showing the stars from the Moon, and it is easily faked in a studio, so your logic fails in every direction.

Rationalisation.

Indeed. Amazing. In all these years not a single one was even tempted by the prospect of cashing in on being the one who spilled the beans and told the truth. "Here's the memo we all received" said nobody. Their lasting loyalty to the late crook Nixon after all these decades is quite incredible.

So, you do recognise the idea is preposterous. That's encouraging.

No, it's a simple rebuttal to your, "Because I say so." You imagine that the Apollo missions should have had the goals you propose. And because they don't you think it's fake.

Asked and answered. You can't keep the Big Secret from the people we're talking about because they're the ones doing the thing you say can't have been done. You keep trotting out the same straw man as if your brain isn't capable of appreciating the difference.

Yeah, sure. You're the guy on the assembly line adding a little solder here and some welding there...when you get called to the White House and given the lowdown. "You can trust me, Guv. Shan't breathe a word <fx taps side of nose> ; your secret is safe with me! SIR!" <fx clicks heels, salutes, exits room slowly, backwards>

You're trying to defend an implausible idea by saying "not everybody had to know it was being faked" rather than considering just how many people would have had to know it was being faked.

What would stop them all these years later from cashing in on the truth? A tell-all book. An exclusive for a TV channel or newspaper. Pay for the grandkids to go to college. Or just pay your own medical bills. Nobody? Really?

"400,000 people can't have kept it secret" is such a pitiable argument. Please stop it.

Once again, you're only arguing that some of the people involved wouldn't have needed to know it wasn't going to happen in earnest.

No, we're not going to stop making the point because you beg us to.

You don't have answer, which is why you're begging your betters to drop it. You either have to imagine that hundreds of thousands of people were fooled in their areas of expertise, or you have to imagine that hundreds of thousands of people were perfectly sworn to secrecy. Both of those proposals are absurd on their face.

Not to detract from the the achievements of Armstrong & Aldrin and the third guy who stayed inside the capsule, and of course, it is undeniably factual it all happened. However, I have a query: when the two astronauts clambered back into the capsule, via some kind of step ladder (..?), how did the capsule manage to take off again, and in the right direction? It's pointed out that there is more computer technology in one's smart phone than in the entire banks of computers at NASA at the time.

Yeah, that lasted . . . ,

At the end of the day, Vixen, you still have probably the best-documented endeavour in the whole of human history, showing how every bit that was needed to carry out the missions was designed and built and tested to do its job as intended, and then you have a vast photographic, film, eyewitness and audio record showing that it was indeed used to do its job, and you have all the remaining artefacts indicating that these events happened as recorded. And they put all those records in the public domain.

And on the other hand you have "nuh, uh" from grifters leeching money from fools.
