i don’t necessarily agree but after reading everything you’ve presented in this thread and the discussion about it i’m actually less concerned about what’s on online pornography sites than i was at the start

Why won't / don't you show porn to kids? Kids seeing porn just evinces a yawn from you, right? Why not show a / your kid bukkake porn just so they know what to expect?

First off, my children are middle age now. I was maybe slightly embarrassed because of my repressive upbringing. It was a different time. I've learned more.
Your obsessional hatred of Christianity is well understood. What it is doing on this thread is beyond comprehension.
.
Because Christianity fuels the repression of a natural biological act. Your obsession against sex is almost certainly religiously inspired. And if you're from the Western world it is highly likely it is one of the Abrahamic religions.

Yep, totally desensitized by porn. And I have been since I found my Dad's Playboys in the 1970s. I don't show them to my kids. But I could care less. Don't make sex a big deal and it's not. Answer every question they might have. Teach them about birth control, STDs, respect for partners and differences. Nothing unhealthy about sex or porn. Nothing hateful about it either. OTOH, religion is dangerous. It infects the mind and poisons everything. (Stole that from Hitchens) I'd rather my kid watch Caligula than the average Sunday service.

The reality of modern-day societal mores? This poster, at least, has zero concern that young kids are seeing it.

Who agrees with such indifference?
Kids are much smarter than adults give them credit for. Do you think young kids are traumatized by seeing porn? Or do you think they are traumatized by ass backwards prudish parents that follow the mores of a bronze age book that told parents to beat their children? And to kill their children if they had sex outside of marriage?

In my view, sex is not immoral. Lying, violence, and selfishness is. (But not always, everything must be viewed in context.)

I included 'a kid'. So, you are up for showing a kid porn? That's what Pornhub et al do.

And you 100% haven't been following the thread. This thread is about porn. It isn't about sex.

Now cite my obsession against sex post.

Are you able to post without embarrassing yourself with your Christian obsession?
Your conflation of sex with porn continues...

I never said that. You really want to twist everything I say. Don't you? I just don't think that it traumatizes kids. I saw porn by the time I reached the age of 10. I didn't understand it. But I was far from traumatized by it.

Porn I believe is depictions of sex. Is it not?

This entire thread.

Obsession is what you do in other threads. Obsession is religious schools, missions etc.

No it doesn't. Porn is the filming of sex or the writing about it. They are related to sex. Being overwhelmed by depictions of sex demonstrates an unhealthy attitude towards sex. It makes them prudes who don't or can't enjoy a very natural act that is NECESSARY for procreation.

Answer the question.

Sex also happens outside of porn.
This entire thread.
Rubbish and you know it. I asked for a post displaying my supposed obsession against sex and you didn't find one.

You aren't sure whether you agree or not with: I don't show them to my kids. But I could care less?

i think you’ve overstated the severity of the problem so a certain amount of indifference is a fair reaction. if anything i’m more convinced that my concerns about child safety on the internet are focused correctly elsewhere

But no citation.
Obsession is religious schools, missions etc.
Is it? Are you going to stop posting about an irrelevance?

Already dealt with.

Are you saying that you think that Pornhub et al are just fine leaving their content just 'lying around' (easily accessible) to kids?

Answer the question.
??? Or else?
Sex also happens outside of porn.
So? Then why does it matter if it is recorded, talked about, etc?
Rubbish and you know it. I asked for a post displaying my supposed obsession against sex and you didn't find one.
As I said, this entire thread. Porn is nothing more than depictions of sex. If you didn't have a problem with sex, why object to depictions of sex?

Are you saying that you think that Pornhub et al are just fine leaving their content just 'lying around' (easily accessible) to kids?
I really don't care as long as parents know how to talk to their kids about what they have seen. One of the worst thing about my parent's generation was this hiding sex and making children ashamed of being curious.

And you can argue all day that this grotesquely unhealthy attitude about sex isn't a product of religion. But you would be wrong.

i wouldn't describe it as just lying around and easily accessible to kids

One problem here is that you've been way too vague and general about the nature of your concern. You mention risks to "kids" but neither you nor the legal system distinguishes with any clarity between any age group under eighteen. You specifically call out depictions of violent or non-consensual sex but then you refer to definitions of porn as any depiction of sex, all of which you want to ban, so does the violence or non-consensuality actually matter to you?

Here's a scenario designed by me (role playing as an evil mastermind) to focus your areas of concern a little more. I, evil mastermind, have hacked into a distance-learning server to allow me to show, with no warning, a twelve minute long porn video, to 1000 school children of both sexes, all in different locations (their own homes). It will play full screen, in full color. The video is of an adult man and an adult woman, both performers 28 years of age, having explicit penetrative sex in a well-lit bedroom. The dialog makes it clear that the sex is fully consensual and that the woman is on birth control. There is no kink, no violence, no suggestion that either is married to someone else, no drug or alcohol use. The performers are unknown to all the children (i.e. not their parents, relatives, school teachers, etc.).

In this particular nefarious plot, five hundred of the children who will see the porn, right in the middle of their history class lecture, are eight years old, who have never expressed any particular curiosity about sex beyond what's normal for their age. The other five hundred are sixteen years old, all of whom (I've learned through nefarious means) would be very interested in seeing some porn. In all cases there is no adult immediately present in the room to intervene, though there's nothing stopping the children themselves from looking away, or turning off their own screens.

I've given you a remote control with two buttons, five minutes before the video is set to start. If you push button A, my program will cancel the porn video for all of the eight year olds, leaving their history lessons uninterrupted. If you push button 2, (inconsistently labeled because I'm so evil), it will cancel the porn video for all of the sixteen year olds. But you may only choose one button. If you push both buttons, or neither, then all 1000 subjects will see the porn.

Which button would you press?

(...) Nobody here appears to want to face the truth of how we have let children down. No child should have to be tempted in such a way (...)
Tempted? Actual kids just straight up don't care about this stuff. Nobody can be tempted by something they don't care about. Put this suuuper seeecret stuff on the table in age appropriate layers and you won't even have the Forbidden Mystery angle.

Ok, that is pretty clear. Thanks.

Nobody here appears to want to face the truth of how we have let children down. No child should have to be tempted in such a way - a necessary side effect of the business model that porn relies on (free breadcrumbs leading to monetisation through conversion and data harvesting).
I don't think we have let them down at all. We let them down by taking them to church where they are preyed upon by con artists and pedophile priests.

At some point our children are likely to be tempted to have sex. And certainly, long before they reach age 18. We can pretend that they won't be. But we are fooling ourselves if we do that. There is nothing harmful about sex or porn if parents educate their children about sex.
