Merged Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University event. / Charlie Kirk Shot And Killed

"A nihilistic right wing subculture of despair and self loathing," jimbob said up above. Jesus,
that gives me the cold creepies.

Nihilism lies at the heart of fascism, as has been observed
before (and repeated by yrs truly), but that's actually rather heartening.
Nihilism is a ramshackle approach to life, attractive to punks like Little Face
and Stinky Miller, and it weakens fascism, causing it to -- what? implode? explode?
deliquesce? certainly to collapse when it tries to bully people who fight back.

But despairing fascists? Kamikaze fascists? "If you mean to die, you can do anything" phalangists?
Brownshirts wearing suicide vests? No, surely not.

It’s important to remember that everyone who was complaining about college kids protesting right wing speakers on campus and are silent about this never actually cared about free speech.

Yeah, but the irony is delicious on so many levels.

MAGA fee speech means denigrating anyone and any thing. It's only not free speech if the target is a far-right nutjob.

When they're lauding Lucy Connelly it's encitement to burning people alive they think should be decriminalised.
The thing is, in the Lucy Connelly case, she said what she did in the heat of an argument, in the fallout of the brutal and sadistic murder of three pre-teen girls by a Rwandan immigrant at a children's party, having lost her own child to a hospital's medical negligence.. She regretted saying what she did, and walked it back within 90 minutes by deleting the post - a post that only a few dozen people ever saw. For that she was sentenced to two and a half years in jail.
In the same week as her sentencing, two child rapists got suspended sentences of 18 and 24 months.
It's not so much that she was jailed for an ill-advised Tweet that made people angry, so much as the posting of a nasty Tweet was deemed to be a worse offence, and received a more severe punishment, than raping a child.

The murderer was born in Wales to Christian parents.

She was encouraging arson on inhabited buildings. Arson which was attempted in the riots.

Because a few words she regretted saying in the heat of the moment and quickly walked back are a far more heinous crime than raping children... amirite.

I think the point of my post went clear over your head! 😞

Doesn't change the fact that they were Democrats at the time.
I was illustrating the point made by someone earlier about the folly of going back and using historical behaviour to justify a stance on current behaviour. The way the Republican party and it's ilk are behaving NOW is the issue, not the way they behaved in the past.

How you track these things is through ideology, not political party.

What political parties stand for can change. Ideology is the constant.
