I think there is big difference .. there are really people say "I'm happy Kirk got shot" .. that is IMHO deplorable, and actually illegal where I live (approval of a violent crime).
Saying "He reaped what he sowed" is another thing entirely. Or "I'm not gonna mourn him". Those should be fully protected.

How about "the world is a better place without him in it?" I didn't know much of the details of his position when I wished him the sympathy he'd wish on others on the first page, but yeesh. Just a vile person who literally made a career out of radicalizing children.

A far-right extremist who pretended to be a BLM supporter pleaded guilty to rioting.

On May 27, 2021, Ivan Harrison Hunter, 26, traveled from Texas to Minneapolis during the height of last summer's George Floyd protests and fired gunshots in the Minneapolis 3rd Police Precinct while yelling "Justice for Floyd!" on video.

Hunter is a member of a militia group called the Boogaloo Boys that is anti-government and has the goal of starting a second civil war. Court documents suggest that he attended the protest with two other Boogaloo Boys one of whom was accused of murdering two police officers.

I don't remember ever talking about the apologetics for that. We talked theism frequently from the late sixties through to early seventies, but mostly the existence of god in general terms. After that it seemed like we both bored ourselves out of the subject. I do know I never saw him treat anyone badly on the basis of color.

What I was clumsily trying to describe was people waving Nazi flags, expressing hate for the same groups that the Nazis did and worshiping Hitler

And that Trump was happy with their endorsement. And others were happy to match with people waving literal copies of Nazi flags.
