Trump's Second Term

Yeah, the Post Office is doing great and I'm sure everyone in power is working hard to keep it that way.
We have more than one postal service but I must confess that I don't know how they work. The bills arrive (no surprise) by one method and notices/reminders of my pension by another system. Plenty of adverts unless I mark my door "No Adverts Please". If I need to send a letter or package I have to go to the right place for postage stamps, etc. I don't know if your system is trusthworthy but if I send you a letter I'm sure you'll get it. I don't think very much of the "leave it outside your door" system. I've seen so many YouTube videos of porch pirates.

It's been a rather quiet day; as of the close of the day on April 11, my positive/negative score on the Trump administration stands at -461.

11 April 2025

-1: Headline: Social Security Administration ‘will be using X to communicate’ moving forward [The Hill]
-1: Headline: Judge allows Columbia graduate Mahmoud Khalil's deportation (BBC) [140]
-1: Headline: State tells employees to report on one another for ‘anti-Christian bias’ (Politico)

Reference

140. BBC: “A US judge has ruled the Trump administration can deport Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate detained last month over his role in pro-Palestinian protests.
“Mr Khalil, a permanent legal US resident, has not been charged with a crime. In a letter written from the facility, he has said his “arrest was a direct consequence" of speaking out for Palestinian rights.””

What Iran isn't going to do is disarm on conventional weapons because if you look at Syria or Lebanon once you are disarmed Israel walks all over you. (Or Iraq or the US, Iran has a recent history of being the victim of military attacks.)
It is not the question of Iran being walked over. I believe that nobody would presently attack Iran if they didn’t support attacks on Israel, and if the they didn’t support Shia rebels in other countries. It is their foreign ambitions that makes it necessary to maintain a strong military.

Correct.

Iran's support of those entities are simply acts of self defence. That ought to be obvious.

The US didn't overthrow the democratically elected Iranian government because of Shia rebels. Iraq didn't invade iran because of Shia rebels. ISIS didn't attack Iran because of Shia rebels. Remember the major force that defeated ISIS in Iraq was the Shia militias maintaining the authority of the Iraq government. The view from Iran is that they are under threat from the US, Israel, the Arab (Sunni) states. That the Shia populations across the middle east are widely oppressed and dependant on iran for their protection. Hamas is NOT a Shia militia. Iran does not exist in a stable part of the world it's neighbours are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Turkey and maritime neighbours are Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. Caspian sea neighbours are Russia and Kazakhstan. majority Shia population countries are Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Azerbaijan and Lebanon. many have historically been ruled by a Sunni minority.

This is more insight than forum members are accustomed to seeing.

This isn't a SNL sketch

Watters: We’re telling allies, put up trade barriers against the Chinese like we are doing and if you don't our tariffs are going back up on you. So just sign on the dotted line and we’ll get you a picture with trump and Bessent and maybe Elon will send you a car.

So we are living in the global equivalent of a monarchy now.

Genocide!

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump
How could we be expected to go to South Africa for the very important G20 Meeting when Land Confiscation and Genocide is the primary topic of conversation? They are taking the land of white Farmers, and then killing them and their families. The Media refuses to report on this. The United States has held back all contributions to South Africa. Is this where we want to be for the G20? I don't think so!
