Trump's Second Term

The actuarial tables shows that a 78 year old man has 5.3% of dying and at 79 5.8%, life expectancy 8.9 to 7.9 years
Is that for a relatively healthy lifestyle 78 year old? Trump is an angry, lazy, fat pucker with the end-stage diet of Supersize Me. I suspect there's some adjustments to the calculation required. By my estimate, he's been dead for a few years now.

What a deplorable attitude.
Agreed. People who lean Democrat are "scumbag commies?" WTAF??? How can those be the words of a highly placed official in the Federal Bureau of Investigation? Only in this 'through the looking glass' world we now inhabit, they are. :(

They all talk like that. trump, musk, etc. What intelligent, rational adult express themselves that way? It's like we're being governed by a group of high school wise guys.

Or is this 'bro culture?'

Wannabe mafia bosses.

Oh, look, they have mystical, algorithmagical Elon-generated proof of all the fraudies that Elon claims to have found, which no one else in decades has seen and which justifies Elon's indiscriminate purges. Again, where are the economists? Where are the forensic accountants? Where are the computer scientists who don't work for Elon? Why didn't Elon's black-box algorithm figure out that he shouldn't fire the people who guard our nuclear stockpile? Everything is just based on slack-jawedly believing that Elon Musk is a galaxy-brained super genius, when the evidence seems to be little more sophisticated than 1,$s/Reuters/d.

It's questionable whether data lies, because data can be manipulated to support a lot of things. That's why we require the manipulations to be publicly inspectable. But Elon certainly lies.
I think that this is a bit too rash an assessment. It's saying that they think they'll find said Elon-generated proof, not that they have it, is it not? They have the technology! Pfft.

Seriously, though, this just sounds like the usual Republican song and dance. "We're gonna investigate this supposedly rage-worthy thing using brazen up is down level lies as justification for what and why we're investigating it!" Red meat for the base, because the base doesn't actually pay attention to how 1) it's BS from the start, and 2) the investigation either doesn't actually happen, goes nowhere, or it's proven clearly that it's BS on investigation. If there's a difference, well... this time, a LOT more direct harm is being done to a LOT more people, rather than the usual affront to truth, reason, and the dignity of the US.

On the other hand, we do not see any such actions from the republicans. (Yeah, they may talk in private about how "Trump is crazy/he's a problem", or they may complain about him after they leave politics, but when confronted with the opportunity to actually do something, they cave. (Witness that the ONLY senator to reject Kennedy's confirmation was Moscow Mitch.)

Err... Moscow Mitch has announced that this is his last term, right? It's only after such an announcement that nearly any Republicans have spoken against him.

Indeed. Serious learning and psychological problems. Judges tend to know how the law works, and how to apply it.

Tend, sure, though there are obviously some who aren't particularly interested in applying it correctly or justly.

If true, is this how most Americans actually expect their president to behave and speak? Is this how you want your chief national representative to behave on your behalf? Is this how you want to be seen in the world, being led by a petty, foul-mouthed, insulting old codger lounging in a Laz-E-Boy shouting insane insults at people on TV?

Is this the depths to which the USA have sunk?

It's a bit of a return to his last Presidency, only worse. It's just one of the reasons why voting for him should have been absurd for anyone with the least bit of patriotism, though hardly the most important among the reasons that any patriot should have firmly opposed him.

Agreed. People who lean Democrat are "scumbag commies?" WTAF??? How can those be the words of a highly placed official in the Federal Bureau of Investigation? Only in this 'through the looking glass' world we now inhabit, they are. :(

The good ol' boys might be more accurate. Naturally, anti-Republican statements that are orders of magnitude less problematic have been enough to stir up mass outrage about how biased the FBI is among the far right, but stuff like this?

As of the close of the day on February 25, my positive/negative score on the Trump administration stands at -186.

24 February 2025
-1: Trump again insults Justin Trudeau by referring to him as "governor" [50]
-1: Mike Johnson gushes about how Musk's team is gathering data (about what, he doesn't say) [51]
-1: Headline: CIA scrambles after White House email compromises undercover officers' names: report (CNN)
-1: US votes against a UN resolution calling for Russia to withdraw all its forces from Ukraine
-1: Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN) introduces articles of impeachment against a judge for upholding the law [52]
-1: Trump goes on a rant about MSNBC cancelling two evening commentary programs and firing their hosts [53]

References:

50. Trump: "Today, President Emmanuel Macron of France joined me in the Oval Office to speak to the G7 Summit. The meeting was convened by Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, the current chair of G7, to acknowledge the Third Anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine War -Which would have never started if I was President."

51: Mike Johnson: "Elon has cracked the code. He's now inside these agencies. He's created these algorithms that are constantly crawling through the data & as he told me in his office, the data doesn't lie. We're gonna be able to get the information."

52. Andy Ogles: "I just formally introduced articles of impeachment against RADICAL LGBTQ ACTIVIST U.S. District Judge John Bates. His attempt to block President Trump's order to remove webpages containing resources for "gender-affirming care" from government sites is appalling. At no point in American history has the judiciary considered the surgical or chemical castration of healthy children to be a compelling or even legitimate health concern and it shouldn't start now. We must protect our children from predators like Judge Bates. "

53. Trump: "Lowlife Chairman of "Concast," Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid. Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been "canned" long ago, along with everyone else who works there. Also thrown out was Alex Wagner, the sub on the seriously failing Rachel Maddow show. Rachel rarely shows up because she knows there's nobody watching, and she also knows that she's got less television persona than virtually anyone on television except, perhaps, Joy Reid. Then there's, of course, the LOW IQ Con Man, Al Sharpton, who has, perhaps, the lowest TV ratings in the history of television. What is he doing to Brian Roberts to stay on the air? This whole corrupt operation is nothing more than an illegal arm of the Democrat Party. They should be forced to pay vast sums of money for the damage they've done to our Country. Fake News is an UNPARDONABLE SIN!"

Interesting.

Symbol of the Blood & Soil Movement, Hitler Youth, and 7th SS Division Prinz Eugen.
Also used in South Africa by pro apartheid, extreme right wing groups.

Just an unfortunate coincidence I'm sure.

A couple of years ago, I started a thread to talk about some of these sorts of "coincidences"... things Trump or his Klan have done that seem to reference nazi germany or other alt-right politics.

In addition to the CPAC stage you also had
- Trump calling neo-nazis "fine people" after the Charllotestown rally (and he did... the MAGAchud try to justify it by saying he said "some" were fine people, but since nazi flags were visible, any of the right wing protestors would have been aware of them but decided to stick around.).
- During the 2016 election, Trump posted a meme attacking Clinton that was taken from a neo-nazi web site
- Trump made a post of soldiers against an American flag (supposedly as a patriotic appeal), but the soldiers were actually the outfits of WW2 german soldiers.

All of this COULD be coincidence. But there seems to be an awful lot of these type of coincidences.

Employees that didn't submit a response to Elon's email are being given a second chance.

Elon Musk
@elonmisk

Subject to the discretion of the President, they will be given another chance.

Failure to respond a second time will result in termination.

Secondly, the U.S. has a (sort of almost) democracy. Unlike Schindler (where he was working in an authoritarian system), a republican congress critter actually COULD have a significant role in undermining Trump, with no risk of being arrested by the government.
Perhaps not be arrested by the government, but couldn’t Trump or Musk harness “Truth” Social or X to send axe-wielding nutters to their private homes?
Possible, but I suspect that if you are a congress-critter, you would have access to at least some security (either through the capitol police, or through private security, since a lot of congressmen are relatively wealthy.) Plus, the threat of MAGAchud attacks hasn't stopped Democrats from standing up against Trump, and they're just as much at risk.

And if you are a republican who actually dislikes trump but won't speak out because you are fearful for your security, wouldn't the moral thing to do is simply withdraw from politics? If you do, then one of 2 things will happen:
- You might get replaced by a Democrat, or maybe an actual republican with principles who will actually do something about trump
- You get replaced by someone else who will support Trump. Ok, its not stopping Trump, but at least you are absolving yourself of the responsibility of whatever Trump does

Instead, by sticking around and supporting Trump, you are only enabling him, but also blocking someone who might actually be willing to go against Trump.

I've found that you can understand the way Trump treats both his position as President and the process of government if you think of the whole thing as a "reality" TV show, with all the depth and commitment to actual reality that that implies. It's no accident that he constantly obsesses over (and inflates) his ratings (i.e., polls) as well as the ratings of anyone who vocally oppose him. He, of course, is both the chief protagonist and the judge of the show, the problem being that everyone else in the world has been drafted to be contestants, with or without their knowledge or consent.

It struck me a while back that it isn't a reality show, he's choosing guests for a late night talk show. He's obsessed with Colbert, Kimmel et al, they're what he wants to be, clever, popular, surrounded by rich, famous people yet still the centre of attention.

Elon on his email

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

The email request was utterly trivial, as the standard for passing the test was to type some words and press send!

Yet so many failed even that inane test, urged on in some cases by their managers.

Have you ever witnessed such INCOMPETENCE and CONTEMPT for how YOUR TAXES are being spent?

Makes old Twitter look good. Didn’t think that was possible.
