The Bible is a Human Artifice!!!

What Christians believe is immaterial... the Jews believe it ... they even say the Torah was in heaven even before there were humans.

Excuse me. I'm just going to back up toward the door and ease myself out of this thread. I fear my comments were close to being politically incorrect in context of the thread. It pertains to the Jewish Bible and Judaism.
In respect, I'm not in a position to comment.

Blasphemy!
Please, please carry on with it! :wackynotworthy:

[*]it is an internet page... what century do you expect it would be

The cheapest of cop outs.

[*]it was in response to

what century was he talking about

You claim it is "what Jews believe". But that is a lie. The 20th century composition is called "The Legends of The Jews", not The Beliefs of The Jews.

[*]It is a Midrash.... do you know what that is... do you know what century that is???

Yup. In this case, a 20th century author who spun a narrative by rewriting a cool story while, by its own admission, never quoting older works

Claiming that this cool modern Legend story is "what the Jews believe" is plumbing new depths of dishonesty.

Better summary of the "debate" thus far:

"The B*ble is a human artifice!"

"We know."

"You can tell because of [tinfoil hat theory of language and authorship]!"

"But that makes no sense at all."

"Why are you defending the B*ble?!"

"Bruh."

Aw. We were just

...and...cut! That's a wrap.

starting to have fun.

I liked the revelation about the Seeress Empress, Radiala of Tyre. "Childlike was she, and the glory of her headlights was radical. Even out unto upon within to down along, so beside her bedside, thus selah! be it ever."

I mean, that's amen, right?

Sigh…

No, the Jewish people do not actually believe that the Torah was literally written by God in black fire on white fire. That’s a legend told in the midrash form -interpreting old folklore, rabbinical texts, the Talmud, etc. It’s a story, not the literal truth, meant to convey certain spiritual truths.

Not to mention that passages in a book written in 17th century English are highly unlikely to resemble anything said by a god, or anyone else, in BCE Palestine.

THere are quite a few more modern translations out there......

Vast majority of Jews do not believe that; some of the Ultra Orthodox do.

Why do you want people here to read the bible? Why not the Koran, or Buddhist scriptures, given that most people here don’t believe any of them?

Which does not mean people should not read them, since they had such a huge influence on History.

That is nonsense.

Jesus Christ, dude. Slow your roll and read for context. LTT is making perfect sense. Leumas is trying to traduce a claim about the ten commandments into a claim about the whole entire Bible. If you were paying attention, you'd be calling it out, too, instead of... Whatever the snizz this is supposed to be.

No I am not... your statement is a

Maybe you ought to have a look at a real man and what he says instead of the imaginary strawman you have built...

That is nonsense.

Indeed... but what makes it even more so is that this is all a huge red herring.

The OP is about the fact that the bible is written in Canaanite syntax and semantics using the Aramaic Abjad (script).

Now a christian thinks his New Tall tales are part of the bible... I do not... the bible to me is the T.N.K. (i.e. Tanakh).... but as a christian they want to jump in and throw a red herring about their fairy tales being written in Greek.

And of course only a christian thinks it took YHWH 40 days and 40 nights to dictate to Moses 10 commandments... because to them they want to deny that the rest of the Mitzvot are of any importance.... and thus want to deny that the rest of the Mitzvot were also written by YHWH as it clearly says in Exodus 24:12 and 34:1.

But... all this denial is of course a red herring... because as I said repeatedly... the fact that the Bible claims that YHWH wrote anything at all in the language of the people he personally tried to genocide and ethnically cleanse off of the face of earth and using a flawed and incomplete abjad of yet another people he loathed... is proof that the Bible is nothing but perfidy even before one takes into account anything else it says...

Ah... thanks for seconding what I said ...

  1. ...
  2. It is a Midrash.... do you know what that is... do you know what century that is???

And subsequently showing that it is not a 20th century fabrication and the statements below are arrantly false...

Here are a few of them that do...

Indeed... but again his comment was entirely not relevant in any way possible to the OP which is about the Bible that is written in Canaanite using the Aramaic Abjad... i.e. the T.N.K. (Tanakh)... and he knows that ... so it is another red herring.
