Split Thread Akron police shoot unarmed man 60 times

I do not view it as irrelevant. It simply serves to reinforce the fact that only a small contingent of the ISF (maybe 10 or less) members do not represent the opinion of the masses.

We often lose sight of such scale, around here.

Ah, it's not irrelevant, it just shouldn't be the focus! Look, over there, a squirrel!

And we combine that with "yeah, but all the people who aren't posting agree with me, so there!"

What was that act you were asking for introspection and claiming was subjective, again? Something about rolling? or trawling? Something like that, anyway...

"More people are as racists as me then you would think from this place" isn't the flex you think it is.

The point is, they justifiably smoked this guy.

So, all of the "they stuffed him into the car" and "they handcuffed him" stuff is pointless appeal to emotion, imo.

I am always willing to consider an opinion based on facts and evidence. An opinion based on believing the proven lies provided by some of the cops in this case, is not worthy of consideration.

Also, “they justifiably smoked this guy” is a nothing more than failed attempt on your part to evoke more emotional responses from people you cannot rationallyjustify your opinions to.

"LOL lookit me pretending to have an actual point to make but putting a bait phrase right in the middle of it. Man I hope nobody knocks this chip off my shoulder. It's awfully big."

And yeah and then claiming other people are doing a "appeal to emotion" is just... *Chef's Kiss*

Just for the record, I am not posting much in this thread but I am reading, and I absolutely do not agree that this killing was justified. Especially given the ridiculously over-the-top amount of overkill that was deployed in this case. With 60 shots, there must have been several officers firing into the body after it hit the ground. That is absolutely ludicrous, and completely unacceptable.

He threw the spent case out of the car then unloaded the gun?

OK, yeah, he shoots the gun inside the vehicle, finds -- or catches! -- the ejected casing, then throws it out the car. That must be the most charitable and plausible version of the police story as opposed to -- I dunno, spit-ballin' here -- Walker held the gun outside the window when he fired it.

What is the plausible version of a high speed pursuit for an unspecified licence irregularity resulting in a 60 shot killing?

Ah, the guy who thinks everyone else didn't "discover" the facts we all knew from the first post is saying everyone else is dishonest. Thanks for the insight! :thumbs-up:

Why do you continue to beclown yourself? I said, "And, of course, the car chase did not arouse much ire; that had to be discovered as the arguments for pursuing and shooting Walker began to collapse." For your evidence you were reduced to invoking posts by myself and sir drinks-a-lot(!) when we were criticizing Walker's actions.

My drivers test didn't include high speed chases, being pulled over by the cops for no reason, nor being shot 60 times. My word, where did you get your license?

You did not know that if the police tail you with their flashers on you were supposed to pull over rather than speed up? It sounds like you drive about as well as you argue.

Cops claim there was a flash from the car, but video evidence doesn't quite back them up (unless the bullet caused a flash that ran from the car's headlight to just past the driver's door)

As far as I know, cops hear the shot -- and one officer says, "shot fired." The video shows a flash coming from the car (but maybe you see about as well as you argue).

There are multiple pieces of evidence corroborating the police story. We hear a pop and an officer says "shot fired." We see a video with a flash from the driver-side. Police claim a casing consistent with the gun found in Walker's car was later recovered from that spot on the highway.

psst, things have changed since then, including my knowledge and research into the topic. Pictures were linked to, and I read multiple articles related to the topic since then.

Believe it or not, the world isn't static. In the part you quoted I said I should do something to educate myself, I did that, and I found that the evidence is lacking.

Uh huh. So what did you dig up, Nancy Drew? Because it's pretty foolish to have all of the evidence laid out (for a while) and you haven't supplied, y'know, an argument with regard to how the police story fails. Not a good look.

The more I look at the evidence presented, and now the full, graphic video, the more it seems to me that this guy had no intention of being taken alive...

1. His fiance died recently and by all accounts, he was devastated by this.

2. He fires a shot at police (establishing for them that he is armed).

3. He leaves behind his gun, magazine and a gold ring as he exits the car and does a runner (with a ski-mask on!)

4. He turns and makes a motion as if he is going to pull his gun out (remember, at this point, the cops don't know he left it in the car).

For mine, this has all the elements of a suicide by cop.

So when we see the police video we will see him holding the gun out of the car to fire it?

So why would he not wave a gun at them but instead leave it behind in the car?

So why would he not wave a gun at them but instead leave it behind in the car?

What is know with reasonable certainty:

1. An unarmed victim was shot 60 times and shot at significantly more than that, including after he was dead on the ground, including at least one cop reloading to continue firing.

2. He fled from cops and he had a weapon. There is a reasonable case that the cops were aware that he had a weapon.

3. He first attempted to flee on foot, then stopped and faced his killers.

Linking these things together, it is at least as reasonable to assume suicide by cop as it is to assume any other cause for this killing. All the attempts by the cops to change the narrative post-execution don’t change the nature of the killing itself. It is possible for two (or more) things to be true. He could have decided to provoke the cops into killing him knowing that US cops are quite likely to kill an unarmed Black man given the slightest provocation and the flimsiest of excuses by prosecutors to ignore the killing.

If he was in such a mindset than rationality and reason go out the window.

I can see that.
I can also see the logic in Smartcooky's thoughts.

But.
That is all predicated on the assumption that the police is telling the truth.
I've seen the video Cain provided, but it is not clear enough to say whether or not a gun flash can be seen. I could be, it also could be something else.

And then you get back to trusting the police to tell their part of the story truthfully and not planting evidence or something.
And the last years have not really shown telling the truth to be their best part. Not in the US at least.

Then where is the video of him doing that from all the dash cams? The cops would not be reticent to show that video if it existed. So how did he do that and not get it caught on film by all the cop cars?

Clearly the word of the police is all the evidence you need, which makes it questionable why you don't accept the word of the police over direct video evidence, why are you trusting your lying eyes instead of the police?

If it makes any difference at all, there were 60 bullet holes in the body. There were significantly more than 60 shots.

Nancy Drew? Dope insult, yo.

I've seen all of the evidence available and the police story fails because they haven't backed up their end of the story. The video you supplied, and the still in the article I saw, certainly don't sell the story for me. Like I said, there's a cruiser directly behind the vehicle when it's claimed that Jayland fired the shot. Show me that video. It should be easy to do. If they show that video it would show without a doubt that his hand was outside the window, and that he fired the gun.

I require more than the cops word. You might not. That's fine, that's how you roll. Being that I'm Nancy Drew and all, I would like a bit more.
