Split Thread Akron police shoot unarmed man 60 times

Then they handcuffed him, rolled him over, and tried stuffing him in the backseat of a squad car because they didn't know when the ambulance would arrive. As if it ******* mattered.

I mean, what the actual ****? There's no way he was breathing. Can cops be charged with some form of abusing a corpse?

I mean, the fact that Walker died there just really reflects poorly on him, ya know? He should've complied with the directive to get in the squad car no matter how dead he already was!

True, but I suppose at some point the threat of getting tased and\or shot just kind of wears off.

That's nice when you paper over the fired a gun part.

I question how he fired an unloaded gun, and presenting actual evidence that shows him firing a gun has been lacking. But hey just take the police at their word, they are never contradicted by video evidence later. And if they are clearly it is your lying eyes not the noble police officers.

All of this is very interesting, but it is not SOP for police to try to shoot weapons out of people’s hands or to shoot to wound. Why? Because they miss and either the bullet or the ricochet can injure others. Also with the type of rifles and bullets used now by police, there is literally no such thing as a non-lethal shooting. Shooting anywhere, even the leg or arm, can lead to quick bleeding to death. Conversely, the shooter may not be incapacitated, and the police and others are endangered.

I’m certain there are some tinpot police forces that may have adopted such a stupid policy, but I doubt anyone will find a major one.

As I pointed out earlier, the correct response in this case is not to pursue at a high speed over a licence infringement. That’s how it’s done now in the civilised world.

You seem to be rather blinded about the case and the comments on it, if you think that the car chase was unremarkable up until, as you put it, it was "discovered" 3 days into this discussion.

Just as you willfully conflated "about" and "critically remarked," you're now conflating what was generally known and how the discussion played out on this forum. At this point, I don't think you're blinded so much as dishonest.

We civilians don't train for these situations, we don't have procedures to follow, etc.

This is laughable. Have you not taken a test for a driver's license? You know what's more nerve-racking than finding a safe place to pull over? Leading police on a chase.

I question how he fired an unloaded gun...

He could have had a round in the chamber. Alternatively, he could have fired the gun, and later ejected the magazine, which takes one second.

and presenting actual evidence that shows him firing a gun has been lacking.

There was a flash from the car, and a bullet casing consistent with the gun was recovered from where the flash occurred.

But hey just take the police at their word, they are never contradicted by video evidence later. And if they are clearly it is your lying eyes not the noble police officers.

They could also test for gunpowder residue, but if I've seen too many movies, a lawyer could argue there was transference when they cuffed him.

He threw the spent case out of the car then unloaded the gun?

Ah, the guy who thinks everyone else didn't "discover" the facts we all knew from the first post is saying everyone else is dishonest. Thanks for the insight!

My drivers test didn't include high speed chases, being pulled over by the cops for no reason, nor being shot 60 times. My word, where did you get your license?

Cops claim there was a flash from the car, but video evidence doesn't quite back them up (unless the bullet caused a flash that ran from the car's headlight to just past the driver's door). And cops claim a bullet casing that cops claim is consistent with the handgun was found in the area that cops claim they saw this flash that no camera appears to have caught.

Cops also claim they saw him reach for his gun when he was unarmed, and cops continued shooting when he was already mortally wounded on the ground, then they handcuffed him and attempted to throw his dead body into a squad car.

Oh yeah, they also claim they performed first aid somewhere in there, too.

They could also test for gunpowder residue, but if I've seen too many movies, a lawyer could argue there was transference when they cuffed him.

Which, yeah, if they get a gunpowder residue test thrown out because they decided they had to handcuff a dead body, poetic justice there.

This has already been explained to you. You answered:

psst, things have changed since then, including my knowledge and research into the topic. Pictures were linked to, and I read multiple articles related to the topic since then.

Believe it or not, the world isn't static. In the part you quoted I said I should do something to educate myself, I did that, and I found that the evidence is lacking.
