Ed The Cuomo Scandal.

Look, I don't care very much for either of them. Both are a pair of privileged lucky sperms. That said, Chris works in private enterprise. His job is in no way tied to Andrew's.

Now that doesn't mean CNN doesn't owe it to their viewers to minimize his involvement in any coverage of his brother. But it is not fair to terminate his employment because of his brother.

What about now?

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/chris-cuomo-andrew-cuomo-cnn-1264204/

Documents released Monday reveal the CNN host was using his media sources to get intel on his brother Andrew’s accusers, and then funneling information to the then-governor’s top aide

Does this really come as a shock to anyone? Chris Cuomo exposed himself as a raging douchebag long ago. He was given a pass for his anger management issues, and clear coddling of his brother.

The funny part is, you can't even call him "Fredo" anymore, after his brother's spectacular crash and burn. :D

Cuomo (who ought to get fired) did nothing that Fox anchors and hosts do a regular basis.
This move just highlights the difference between normal media companies and Fox/Newsmaxx/OAN.

Basically, yeah. When so-called "MSM" personalities get caught behaving corruptly, they get pink slips. When conservative personalities get caught, they get job offers.

This is why I thought that CNN should have removed him when the scandal broke. Too much of a chance of something like this happening.

I thought he should be allowed to stay on, but not be allowed anywhere near any decisions around the research and reporting of the topic. It is not unusual for reporters to do whatever the journalist equivalent of recusal is when there is a conflict of interest like this.

In retrospect, he probably could have also gone on leave from work while he went to help his family. I don't think anyone would have blamed him for doing that. But, that's not what he chose.

I usually liked the handoff with Lemon every night -- I'm going to miss that. But yeah, if only the hammer came down as fast on (R) politicians and Fox News chat hosts.

Problem is it is just a bad look for a news channel whose main selling point is it's unbiased news coverage to have close relative of a major politician involved in a a big scandal to be on it's payroll.
It's Cuomo being Andrewl's brother that made his being retained look bad.
I repeat, in media it is as much about perception as reality a lot of the time.

I admit i never liked Cuemo, I hated his smarminess; and I thought his "Ameri'Can" routine to be as cornball as anything Fox News came up with.

I love it. Chris Cuomo gets busted, and the response of you guys is to go off on FOX NEWS!1!!

Do you see anyone here supporting what Cuomo allegedly did? NO. Do you see him being allowed to remain on air? No. But at the risk of comparing that to Fox and being told we shouldn't do that (a risk I'll take):

Fox News host Lara Logan has been criticised - including by Jewish groups - for comments likening US President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser to a Nazi doctor.

Logan said Dr Anthony Fauci "represents Dr Josef Mengele" - known for his cruel experiments during the Holocaust.

The comments were made on-air on Monday during a Fox News Primetime discussion about the Omicron variant.

The Auschwitz Museum described her comments as "shameful".

"What you see on Dr Fauci - this is what people say to me: that he doesn't represent science to them. He represents Josef Mengele," she said as a commentator during the segment.

"Dr Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps. And I am talking about people all around the world are saying this," she went on.

Mengele worked as doctor at Auschwitz and developed the nickname the Angel of Death for his sadistic medical experiments and pseudoscientific studies on people housed there, including children.

You can finger wag all you want but it only exposes your own hypocrisy. Not a good look, Sir.

I disagree. As long as Mario refrained from any mention of his brother or the case involving him and did not become involved in or try to influence the case even outside the parameters of his job, he had every right to remain in his job. A person should not be punished for a relative's actions as long as they are not involved.

That is exactly like the brother of a politician involved in a sex scandal, who uses his position as a media figure to investigate and funnel information.

LOL. That ship sailed long ago.

She said something you find offensive.

Chris abused his power to protect a sexual predator at the expense of the victims.

These are not comparable.

Degree of egregiousness is not the point. They are both wrong. Comparing Dr. Fauci to one of the worst monsters in recent history is disgusting, inflammatory, shameful, insulting especially to Holocaust survivors and the families of Mengele's victims, and a lie. And she does so without a word from Fox. But your minimizing it is noted.

Logan claimed that
"This is what people say to me: that (Fauci) doesn’t represent science to them. He represents Josef Mengele.”

She also retweeted an anonymous Twitter account with one follower that claimed to represent “Jews like me who believe Fauci is a modern day Mengele” and called for “Shame on the Auschwitz Museum for shaming Lara Logan.” The account does not follow anyone, joined Twitter in September and has sent four tweets, all replies.

She reminds me of Trump with his "People are saying...." lies.

She lied about this, too:

Her career took a hit in 2013 when her 2012 “report” on the Benghazi attack was exposed as false. She joined Fox in 2020.

Talk about fake news!

Degree of egregiousness is exactly the point. These scenarios are not even remotely comparable.

Why isn't anyone shouting "whataboutism!"? :D

Bill O'Reilly? This isn't a left wing / right wing or conservative / progressive thing. People on both sides of the political divide act like scum and should be recognised as such. However it is much more common for these practitioners of dubious ideas to become heroes on the right than on the left, on the conservative rather than the progressive side of politics in the current day.
