Trump and Melania test positive test positive for Covid 19

Love seeing our President @realDonaldTrump return home to the White House & stand strongly on the balcony

Early reports indicate that Trump then walked into the kitchen strongly and drank a glass of water strongly.

... AP said that a reporter asked Trump if he is the superspreader. No answer, of course.

It must have been hard to bite his tongue instead of telling us what he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt: he's a super-duper spreader, the greatest spreader in history. The doctors are all amazed at how great his spreading is, they can't figure out how he can be so good at it.

Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!

He didn't say that. He said in certain populations the flu is more lethal. Technically true (I guess) but not particularly informative, of course. Is the flu more lethal in the US population as a whole? Obviously not, so why do we care about the fact that it's more lethal in certain subpopulations.

As the "I guess" suggests, I don't know that the flu is more lethal in any particular population, but it's not implausible that it is. For now, I'll give Trump the benefit of the doubt on that, not because I trust him but because the statement is irrelevant and there's no reason to dispute something irrelevant.

But what makes Trump's comments so dim-witted is that he even points out that "we live with the flu" and partly because there is a vaccine, adn that even then there are 100,000 deaths.

Yes, and the reason why there are "only" 200,000 deaths from Covid is because of the massive mitigation efforts that are necessary because there is no vaccine. It's these efforts he seems to be saying everyone should forget about not realizing the obvious that it would lead to a surge in deaths.

I mean seriously, this really shows how little he has learnt that he is right back to the logic of "hey, it's just like a bad flu."

Not really. If they lose the presidency in a landslide, and lose enough Senate seats, then there's not a lot they can do about it. If Trump and Mitch McConnell and Lindsay Graham think they can get away with squatting but everyone else thinks they lost then they are just going to look foolish as they get dragged away.

It's silly to be painting these pitch black scenarios all the time assuming that the GOP have some kind of death grip on power. The reason why they can currently get away with what they get away with is that they have legitimate power. Once the legitimacy is gone, so will their power be.

Not so fast.
A lot of people, including Joe Biden, the Democratic Party nominee, have misconceived the nature of the threat. They frame it as a concern, unthinkable for presidents past, that Trump might refuse to vacate the Oval Office if he loses. They generally conclude, as Biden has, that in that event the proper authorities “will escort him from the White House with great dispatch.”

The worst case, however, is not that Trump rejects the election outcome. The worst case is that he uses his power to prevent a decisive outcome against him. If Trump sheds all restraint, and if his Republican allies play the parts he assigns them, he could obstruct the emergence of a legally unambiguous victory for Biden in the Electoral College and then in Congress. He could prevent the formation of consensus about whether there is any outcome at all. He could seize on that un*certainty to hold on to power.
The Election That Could Break America

I wonder if he stood strongly at the draft office when he presented the bone spurs doctor's excuse his daddy paid for?

As strongly as he stood by the side of his ex-wives?

As strongly as he stood in the raising of his children?

As strongly as he did with Putin when . . . ever?

Here you go dems, some talking points. There are plenty more, and they're all on the table with Trump's latest stunt.

Why do I care about things that don't affect me personally or directly but do have seriously negatively affect people who are not me? Because I'm not a sociopath.
Do we have zero control over it?

Yes.

Is there any point in stressing over it then?

No.

Squeegee said "care about" You replied with "stressing over".

For most people these two things are not synonymous. Are they for you?

If they are then that could be unhealthy. Perhaps you should consider counselling to reduce the amount of stress you experience.

"Stress" is your own straw man. You can care about something without it being a cause of stress.

There is reportedly a Buddhist saying that, regardless of whether or not it's an actual Buddhist saying, contains a fair degree of wisdom: "There are some things in this life that you can change, and therefore that you should not worry about. And there are some things in this life that you cannot change, and therefore that you should not worry about." I try to live by that as much as possible.

Stress doesn't play a big part in my life. That doesn't mean that I don't care about things, or that I only care about things that affect me directly and people I personally know.

Of course he's learned nothing; he's incapable of it in his dotage, or perhaps ever. His policies will certainly kill at least as many as they have already, if not more before a vaccine is available. And about 50% of the voting public does not seem to give a flying ****. Why, to troll the libs, in supplication to Dear Strongly-Strong Leader, because they're deplorables, because they distrust science and science-based medicine?

I don't know, but he's got to go.

"Stand strongly?"

She said that she loved to see it, not that it had actually happened.

Still, the Republicans certainly set a high bar for what they expect their president to be able to accomplish - drinking a glass of water, walking down a shallow incline, standing...

The lesson he learned is, of course, that if you're just strong like him, you'll be fine. Of course, he's hiding just how bad the illness was and is for him, but that's still the lesson.

The Times had an article about how his aides hoped this would be a turning point for Trump (another one!) and he would show empathy and care after the illness, taking the threat of the pandemic more seriously. Honestly, it's as if some folks have never heard of induction.

The best outcome right now is that Trump has a serious setback within this week. Anything else leads to a worse outcome for the nation.
