If we add the idea that he and/or family members have invested in this drug, I think lying makes sense.
 
Trump has promoted MLMs and scams, surely ineffective supplements were among those? “I’ve heard great things” trumps the FDA on those, too.

THE FACTS: There’s no evidence Hunter Biden pocketed $1.5 billion from China. More generally, accusations of criminal wrongdoing by father or son are unsubstantiated.

In 2014, an investment fund started by Hunter Biden and other investors joined with foreign and Chinese private equity firms in an effort to raise $1.5 billion to invest outside China. That’s far from giving Hunter Biden such a sum, as Trump describes it.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, George Mesires, wrote in an internet post last year that his client was an unpaid director of the fund at the time “based on his interest in seeking ways to bring Chinese capital to international markets.”
“He has not received any return on his investment,” Mesires said.

Hunter Biden stepped down from the Chinese board last October as part of a pledge not to work on behalf of any foreign-owned companies should his father win the presidency.

Exactly. People don't want to be shown they're wrong even if they are. They want what they already believe to be verified. Beyond that take intellectual honesty.

There are days when I’m not convinced that POTUS understands cause and effect well enough to think, my endorsing this product will increase the number of people taking it, some of those people will become sick, therefore I am responsible for some unidentified Americans becoming sick. I know he can’t make the next step: because it is wrong to cause needless suffering, I should stop endorsing it and look at what science says about this drug.
 
His idiot sycophants and Trumpeters at Fox are going to be all over this. This stupid, irresponsible mother ******* prick needs to be held accountable for every hospitalization, every death that results from non-indicated use of chloroquine as a prophylaxis for COVID-19.

Will any medical professional have to balls to call him out on this?

ETA: Additionally, this moron is going to cause another run on this medication, making it difficult for those who need it where it's actually been indicated for certain conditions. What a ****** leader the US has.

As a career salesman, I have taken many Sales training course. Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, Miller Heilman and many others. But probably the best well known sales book and training is Dale Carnegie. He wrote his book "How to win friends and influence people" in the mid 1930s. The most important lesson I learned from that book was not to correct others.

Telling people they are wrong usually leads to them hardening their position.

That is quite the article. It fleshes out a great deal of how we first got to the wealth shift of Reagonomics, and from there to where we are today.
The selfishness and hypocricy of the wealthy is on display... and a cute reminder of Kellyanne's complete lack of character about two thirds of the way through. ;)

None of it brings to my mind the image of a "Great" America.

We're starting to get the first wave of campaign ads here in America's wang. The first one in high rotation is a Trump backed ad that is basically "China caused COVID-19, China Bad, Biden loves China, Biden Bad."

One could arguably add Dr. Dennison as the latest person to be thrown under the bus by trump.

Hydroxychloroquine has not been approved by the FDA as a treatment for covid-19, nor has trump been diagnosed with any disease that is treated by the use hydroxychloroquine.

Woe be the doctor who prescribes medication, especially with as serious side effects such as hydroxychloroquine has, to a patient that doesn't need it.
