The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Hopefully the Kurds are a wake-up call to some of the pathetic suckers who excuse Trump at every opportunity.

Legally speaking, no. Joe is a public figure and a candidate for public office. It is extremely difficult to make a case for libel. In fact, practically speaking, it is impossible.

I think this is a policy that the US needs to seriously reconsider. There might have been some validity to the "public figure" exception to libel laws when the only people making up frankly ridiculous lies about public figures were the Alex Jones types that only fringe elements took seriously, or sleazy gossip rags like the National Enquirer, but when it's the president making up the ridiculous lies, that's a harder argument to make.

Donald Trump has demonstrated this pattern of behaviour for decades. Anyone who thinks that Donald Trump will honour his commitments is unlikely to change their mind over something as trivial as this.

Heck, people who have been stitched up by Donald Trump and his policies, American farmers spring to mind, are still overwhelming supporters of him.

How about Hunter Biden?

This is happening at the same time that polls have moved in favor of impeachment / removal -- rapidly.

I hope it's different this time. Alas, I also hope for a pony.

I wouldn't be shocked to find that the GOP discovers that a sitting President cannot be sued. That kinda makes sense because otherwise the next Democratic Party could find her/himself neck deep in lawsuits from day 1 in office.

Many Kurds served with British ground forces as 'Levies' in WW2, defending RAF bases during the pro-Axis coup attempt in Iraq in 1941.
They also served with Royal Marines in the Italian campaign.

Yeah? But where were they at Normandy?

And anyway, helping the UK is not helping the US. Screw 'em.

Just to reiterate what has happened:

Trump has unilaterally made the US abandon a long standing ally that has fought alongside US troops against ISIS. The result will be many dead US allies and the probable release of ISIS prisoners, which will lead to a possible resurgence of ISIS and an increase in terror attacks in the US and Europe.

This is what Trump supporters have to defend.

They helped us lately? Big deal. What have they done for us seventy-odd years ago?

If the situation is the same in 2-3 weeks time then it might conceivably signal a seismic change in support for President Trump.

In the past other scandals which would have killed off the career of pretty much any other President have caused a brief dip in President Trump's approval numbers before they have bounced back to the 40%-45% range.

Maybe the kurds wanted to help at Normandy but were suffering from bone spurs at the time.

I've been on the Fox articles to read through comments by trump supporters. I do this to try and get an idea of what they're thinking, but I understand that they're not necessarily representative of all trump supporters.

It seems there isn't really much defense for this decision at all. The most common i've seen so far is 'The Kurds are not our ally, Turkey is. They're a NATO member and our ally'. Very little beyond that. I really don't want to go to Breitbart but i might.

“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters Thursday his controversial July call with President Trump involved no bribe, blackmail or quid pro quo, as impeachment-minded Democrats claim.”
This should immediately end the talk of impeachment!

From the day I announced I was running for President, I have NEVER had a good @FoxNews Poll. Whoever their Pollster is, they suck. But @FoxNews is also much different than it used to be in the good old days. With people like Andrew Napolitano, who wanted to be a Supreme....

...Court Justice & I turned him down (he’s been terrible ever since), Shep Smith, @donnabrazile (who gave Crooked Hillary the debate questions & got fired from @CNN), & others, @FoxNews
doesn’t deliver for US anymore. It is so different than it used to be. Oh well, I’m President!

in the US it would come under Political speech which is protected by the First Amendment and Anti-SLAAP laws.

Where is Hunter Biden? He has disappeared while the Fake News protects his Crooked daddy!

@EricTrump
Board members of Exxon Mobil (one of the worlds largest and most prestigious energy companies) make $330,000 annually.
Hunter Biden, with no industry knowledge or duties, was being paid $600,000 annually.
All of this while the average annual salary in Ukraine is $1700 per year

In the Q&A where Trump threw the Kurds under the zamburak, he also trashed NATO allies. They owe us "hundreds of billions of dollars".

That should be his 2020 campaign slogan::
"Donald Trump - Oh well, I'm President!"
