FoxNews is as dependent on President Trump's base for viewers as President Trump is on Fox News for flattering coverage. I'm not sure who holds the upper hand in this power struggle.

It comes down to how many Fox Viewers are members of the Trump Personality Cult, and how many are more will support anybody in the White House who has an "R" after his name.The latter might not be as totally devoted to Donnie if they come to think he is "Bad For The Party".

Oh, I think they're still largely on the side of Trump and the Republicans.

Trump surrogates regularly appear on the channel, and he still gets defended on TV programs like Fox and Friends. He also has the support of many of the Fox hosts... Pirro is campaigning for Trump, and Hannity is promoting a book by Trump Jr.

Some of the hosts may be putting up a false front about how they "don't work for Trump", but we know that's not true.

If the network seems to be less pro-Trump, its probably because Trump's antics are so bizarre and harmful that its harder for the network to cover up.

Fox still has the #1 ratings, so basically anything they say gets to a very large audience. Anything short of condemnation for most of what Trump says helps him.

Its not only a case of whether Trump is "bad for the party", but whether they see a reasonable escape plan to disavow him without making things worse for Republicans in general.

Trump may be bad for the party. (Hopefully his brand of racism will make the republican party toxic once demographics shift enough, and polling is not very favorable to Trump right now.) But if they drop support for him, they may go from a 'possible republican loss' to a 'definite republican loss'.

Maybe he really was given that she is considered the #Metoo candidate and definitely could not be accused of double standards as she was a major figure in Al Franken’s resignation.

Which makes it plausible for Trump. Not saying he did say it, but it's certainly not implausible for Trump to have said it.
