It gets better. First, Avenatti had just announced his own press conference where he was going to expose Nike, right before the charges against him were announced:

Nice timing there, Mike.
Second, apparently SDNY isn't the only ones going after Avenatti. He was just arrested for wire fraud charges brought by federal prosecutors in Los Angeles.

Somewhere TBD is dancing.
Poor guy. Avenatti up on charges and Trump completely exonerated on the same day, and he's still in the penalty box here.
As well he should be, over this.

Trump wasn't completely exonerated. He just wasn't charged. There is a difference
Trump is in a better place than Avenatti. The tables really turned in the last several months.

Yea, they did. Being President is one hell of a shield. Avenatti was always a good attack dog. He just wasn't a very good person. I thought he was bright and articulate, but man he dug a hole for himself. It just goes to show the wisdom of the old joke about lawyers.
What do you call 100 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean?
A good start.
Sounds like he could run for president with a professional history like that.I don't think that's likely. It seems that Avenatti has become unglued. He was already in hot water legally for his dubious bankruptcy actions, and his interactions with the public indicate a bit of instability.
He put his own head in the noose with the Nike extortion attempt.
It sounds to me that Avenatti may have been desperate for some cash because of his financial struggles.
But trying to strong arm a multi billion dollar company with threats doesn't end well for most (or maybe all) who try.
It's an interesting twist. Hopefully he's not simply being persecuted by the Trump DoJ.
